Support the Production of our Bulletin For quite some time we have been producing our own bulletin al-lowing us to meet the needs of the three languages. If we were to send this bulletin out to be produced, we would have to have one bulletin in English only for everyone and the publications of the Readings in Italian and Spanish would have to come to an end. Help us by Supporting our advertisers and also by placing an ad in our bulletin for a year. Please call the office for more information.

MASS INTENTIONS CALLED AND CHOSEN - Being “called” offers the possibility to be “chosen.” Choice is a two-sided freedom. Today we hear about Elisha’s call: he prepares his work and fami-ly and then takes up the work of Elijah. We hear Jesus’ stronger call. Jesus demands a free, single-minded response. There is no turning back for those who follow him. It is a daunt-ing call to salvation, to holiness, to sharing his life. He gives us courage to follow him in the Eucharist. Do we, do you dare to answer that call, wherever it leads?
Come Follow Me. My brothers and sisters, the readings for this weekend reminds us that all of us have a special vocation, a special call. Jesus invites us to continue His mission through-out the world. In the first reading, we see how God called Elisha and his response to him. Elisha demonstrated a total commit-ment to his call. The sacrifice of his oxen, the kissing of his father, and the bidding of farewell to his men, were all symbolic ges-tures that he had freely accepted his call. It was a sign of total submission to the will, and call of God over his own will. It was also an indication that he loved God more than his business, and his own self. In the Gospel, Jesus in the same way called the apostles and is calling each one of us. Je-sus says: Follow me! Jesus Christ is al-ways passing by; he’s always acting and alive in our lives. He is calling us to follow and serve Him in our families, through our families, in our work, through our work and in the daily realities of our lives. Jesus says to the man today in the Gospel: You, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God. That invitation is to all of us. Like the Virgin Mary responded to the Lord and followed God’s invitation, we too are called to do the same. So my brothers and sisters, let us put into action our vocation and do not let anything disturb you.
Fr. Josue Vargas

Baptism Previous membership in the parish and regular attendance at Sunday (Saturday vigil at 5pm included) Mass will be expected from anyone seeking to baptize a child. Membership includes not only attendance at mass regularly, but the use of offertory envelopes. If you are new to the parish you will be expected to first establish your relationship with our parish. It is time for us at St. Jude’s to expect the same level of commitment that is given by those who seem to always car-ry the responsibilities of our parish community. The gifts of the Church depend on both rights and obligations and personal relation-ship with one’s parish and fair share of the responsibilities is to be expected.
First Communion Photos are now available at the parish office dur-ing regular office hours, Monday through Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (closed 12pm –1:00pm ). Please come and pick up your child’s First Communion photo. There is no charge for the “Individual” photo-graph. Orders however will be taken if anyone is interested in purchasing a group photo. We require $10.00 (cash only) when placing any group photo orders.
Pray for Vocations
Jesus still speaks the invitation " Follow Me." Pray for the strength and the grace of dis-cernment if you feel He is call-ing you to be an ordained or consecrated person. If you think God is calling you to be a priest, religious or dea-con, contact Fr. Chris Lemieux, Vocation Director, Archdio-cese of Toronto at 416-968-0997 or email [email protected]

Planning to be a Catholic School Teacher?
It is critical for you to know that to be hired to teach in any Catholic School Board in Ontario as part of your applica-tion for employment there must be a letter of reference from your pastor. If you are planning to apply to teach in a Catholic School, it is highly recommended to con-tact the pastor a year in advance, especially in light of the fact that all universities make this matter known to every student at the beginning of the year. Please plan to have a conversation with your pastor early in the process (not the week before you are submitting your application) and you will avoid disappointment and stress at the time when applications are to be submitted. The following are required at St. Jude’s:
Be (yourself, not your parents or grand
parents) a registered member of the parish
using offertory envelopes (at least 1 year
before the application).
Be in the parish for participation in Sun-
day/Saturday mass for a minimum of 12
months prior to approaching the pastor.
Be involved in some way with your parish.
Make your request 3 months in advance.
Applicant must be the one making the re-
quests. No request will be accepted by a
relative or a parent.
The pastor has to be able to recommend
you and that is only possible if he knows
you at the basic level of regular mass at-
tendance. Personal knowledge of the can-
didate’s faith practice is what the pastor
needs to recommend (not your parents,
grand parents, but yourself as this is a per-
sonal recommendation not a family one.
Do you wish to become a Catholic?
Are you:
Non-baptized and have
a desire to learn more
about the Catholic faith with the inten-
tion of converting?
Baptized as a Christian in a different
denomination (religion) and seek full
reception (membership) in the Roman
Catholic Church?
Baptized in the Catholic faith but never
received faith instructions as a child,
made first communion and received
Confirmation?
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
(RCIA) is the place for you.. Every year
adults are welcomed/received/baptized
into the Catholic Community through
RCIA.
If you or someone you know is interested
in the RCIA program please call the parish
office and leave your name and phone
number or pick up an RCIA Inquiry form
at the parish office.
