From the Principal…

Dear Parents,

It is finally spring and with this season of new growth,

Linton Village College enters a new phase of its

development. From 1st April, we will become a multi-

academy trust with The Meadow School, Balsham.

The two schools will be governed by one Board of

Directors and will report to Board committees on their use

of resources and pupil standards. The Trust is to be called

Chilford Hundred Education Trust, but both schools will

retain their current names as part of it.

I will become Executive Principal of both Trust schools and

continue as Principal of LVC. A head teacher for The

Meadow Primary School will be appointed before the end

of April.

Now that my role has grown, we have needed to appoint

a slightly bigger senior team at LVC. From September,

Helena Marsh (currently Assistant Principal at Sawston)

joins Tim Darby as Deputy Principal. Our wonderful

Denise Hall is taking retirement at the end of the year and

will be replaced by Shahla Matarazzo (a senior teacher at

Saffron Walden County High School) who joins Doug

Brechin and Angela Cassidy as Assistant Principal. This is

an exceptionally strong and talented group of people and I

very much look forward to working with them.

Enjoy the daffodils and the sunlight.

Caroline Derbyshire

STUDENTS TRAVEL TO FRANCE AND AUSTRIA

Year 10 GCSE

French students

spent a week at

Château de la

Baudonnière in

Normandy,

immersing

themselves in

French language and culture. ‘The experience has really

helped to boost my confidence when speaking French and I

had a really good time as well,’ said Amy. ‘You pick up a wide

range of language that you wouldn’t necessarily learn in

class,’ said Matt. ‘A great way to immerse yourself in the

French language,’ said Harry.

A group of Year 10 and 11

students spent February

half-term learning to ski

in the Sportwelt Amada

region of Austria.

LVC TECH STUDENTS PICK UP ANOTHER PRIZE

Year 9 students

took part in the

annual Rotary Club

Design Technology

Tournament at the

Freemasons Hall in

Cambridge.

The students had to solve a ‘make and design’ challenge

against the clock without any help from teachers. The

LVC team won the award for best design portfolio and

presentation for the fourth year in succession. Well done

to James, Megan, Amy, Ivor, Zoe, Tom, Archie and Clara.
