7expansion update

The dark red portions of the building in the rendering represents the new construction portions of Phase 1, and the light red represents the areas that will be renovated during Phase 1. Our goal is to have Phase 1 complete by August 1, 2019.Dark blue represents the new construction in Phase 2, and light blue represents the areas that will be renovated during Phase 2. No date has been set to begin Phase 2 as we only have the funds in place to complete Phase 1 at this time.If you know of anyone who would be willing to partner with PCS to make this entire plan a reality, please contact Chris Nellermoe, PCS President.

The month of February was a very busy month for the PCS Expansion Team. Construction documents were wrapped up and the project will hit the streets of Fargo/Moorhead for bidding. By the end of March, we will award the project to the various contractors with the goal of beginning construction in May!This expansion and renovation is being designed so we can construct it in several phases to meet our needs and build within the amount of money that is raised for this project. We will only build what we can pay for.

Galatians 6:2 instructs us to carry one another‘s burdens and Hebrews 1:6 tells us that God is well-pleased when we do so. What a privilege it is to call Adam Stevens a friend, classmate, and brother in Christ! We, the junior class, want to come together alongside Adam, financially, emotionally, and spiritually, to make his burden lighter.Already we have been able to contribute to Adam‘s fight in a few tangible ways. Many of us helped make puppy chow for the ‘Eat ‚em for Adam’ fundraising campaign, spreading awareness along with powdered sugar. We also made grey brain cancer awareness ribbons to sell at basketball games. During our grey-out nights, Adam‘s color is worn on the court, in the stands, and on our ‘Team Adam’ t-shirts.We are so glad to be a part of supporting and encouraging Adam in his fight against cancer! We‘re fighting for Adam, in the name of Jesus, whose hand we‘ve seen in all of it.

One hundred and twenty-six families completed the survey in November which equates to 48%. Thank you! We will continue to seek your input annually. Next fall we will be seeking feedback from all PCS stakeholders (parents, students, alumni, and staff) using a norm reference survey for our 2019 re-accreditation.The following are some big picture results communicated to us from the fall 2017 survey. Over the next months we will continue to report the survey data to you. This month will focus on reporting the area of being Christ-centered, using the following rubric:

1–Strongly disagree 2–Disagree 3–Neutral 4–Agree 5–Strongly Agree

Christ-centered: you reported that PCS remains Christ-centered and focused on Jesus in all that we do – Glory to God!Strength areas you reported were:

1. Variety of Christ-centered opportunities at PCS (scoring at an average of 4.90)2. Growth in knowledge of the Bible (average score of 4.81)3. Exposure to God’s plan for salvation (average score of 4.63)

Areas that you agree we are doing well in, yet were scored slightly lower included: 1. My child has been encouraged to transfer biblical knowledge form their head to their heart (average score of 4.52)2. Our family actively participates in the local church (average score of 4.49)3. My child is able to defend his or her faith (average score of 4.01)

When asked the question, ‘What does PCS do well?’, you responded with the following themes:Faith is infused in every aspect, integrates Christ well, prayer, the word of God is engrained in my child’s life, Jesus is the focus of worship/teaching, all things, the teacher and staff show a strong commitment to Christ, encourages kids in living Christ-centered, Jesus is incorporated in all subject areas.

When asked the question, ‘How can PCS improve?’ you responded with the following themes:Teaching how to have Christ-centered relationships with each other, safely help kids understand/experience life outside of the school walls, focusing on heart change vs. being good or doing good, and spiritual teachings that relate to teens and their lives.
