Our first meeting with President Chris Nellermoe began in prayer, and the first thing he prayed for was our marriage! We did not see that coming. At our teacher conferences, we were prayed for again. Every staff member we’ve come in contact with shows the love of God not only to our three girls, but to us as parents. We’ve made many new friends, and our gracious welcome into the PCS Family makes us feel like we’ve been here for years. God continues to show us that Park was not only His plan for our kids, but our entire family. Park Christian is not just another school. It’s a place our family now calls home. What advice do you have for other families considering PCS? Sometimes we want to know things quicker than God reveals them. We have been prayerfully waiting years for God to reveal his plan for our kids’ education. God answered prayer with a new employment opportunity that simultaneously prompted a school change and unexpected financial resources. God’s desire for our kids to attend Park Christian was beyond clear! While we faithfully (eagerly) waited, we talked to friends about Park, attended PCS events as observers, and even hired a few PCS girls to babysit! We got to know the school, students, and staff so when right time came, we were ready. My advice to others is to patiently do the same. “But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.” (Isaiah 40:31) Park Christian was Gods plan for our entire FAMILY Monday, January 8 8:00 – 11:30 am Preview Day for inquiring students in grades 1-11 KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UPS Thursday, January 18 and Tuesdays, February 27 and March 20 5:00 - 6:00 pm RSVP at 218-236-0500 PARK CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

We were drawn to Park because we wanted our children to be encouraged and prayed for, not expecting to receive that as well. Our first meeting with President Chris Nellermoe began in prayer, and the first thing he prayed for was our marriage! We did not see that coming. At our teacher conferences, we were prayed for again. 3IN THE CLASSROOM

How Do We Help Those in NeedPCS K-6th graders were blessed to have a special presentation December 21st by Ryan Lane, who is PCS parent, Jodi Raisl’s brother. Ryan came to know Christ early in life. After obtaining a Master of Public Health in Disaster Relief Management & Humanitarian Aid from the University of South Florida, Ryan joined Samaritan’s Purse as an Area Coordinator in Greece. Now, Ryan and his wife Megan are headed to Uganda with Samaritan’s Purse, to work on the multi-decade response with refugees from South Sudan and Rwanda. The primary goal of his presentation was to present a snapshot of what life looks like for a refugee, presented in such a way to make it understandable and personal (e.g. “imagine if you had to leave your home and go to your neighbor to ask for help”), and to share what the Bible has to say about helping those in need. Ask your child what they learned or how they were impacted by the presentation. We want helping those in need to be a pattern for life.

Hands-on Science Miss Pletcher‘s 3rd grade class had a hands-on science presentation on levers led by NDSU College of Engineering students. Thank you, Mr. Joel Hanson (PCS dad and NDSU engineering professor).

Simple Machines Lesson Brought to LifeTo study and learn about simple machines, students in Miss Johnson’s 3rd grade class made and tested catapults. It was a fun way to learn about simple machines, and the rabbits around PCS probably enjoyed some stray M-n-M’s!

Mrs. Spaulding’s Class Creates Book TrailersMrs. Spaulding’s 5th grade class had a red-carpet premiere party to watch the book trailers they created. Scan the QR codes to watch two samples. These kids are amazing!!!

Speech TeamJoin the PCS Speech team! Speech is open to all 7-12th grade PCS students and is coached by Mrs. Striker and Mr. Nelson. The season begins the end of January and continues through March. Watch for details.

Lego LeagueFIRST® LEGO® League is not for the faint of heart! When Ms. Norby was interviewed as to the details of the FIRST® LEGO® League, all that these 19 4-6th graders were accomplishing sounded quite overwhelming and impressive. Their competition is all day Saturday, 1/20. They meet twice a week after school for an hour and fifteen minutes a time for 12 weeks to prepare for the competition. FIRST® LEGO® League challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. During the HYDRO DYNAMICSSM season, teams will choose and solve a real-world problem in the Project. They will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS®technology to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under the FIRST LEGO League signature set of Core Values, celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®.

PCS thanks two engineers from John Deere and one from Integrity for volunteering their time to help our teams and to PCS coach, Ms. Kimberly Norby.Go Team!

What’s your why? These are a few responses to the ‘What does PCS do well’ portion of the recent parent survey:

PCS is the best!! The staff and administration is second to NONE! Best President EVER! The most friendly, helpful, joyful office ladies. I see PCS live out its mission every single day through kids and adults that love the Lord. Our hearts overflow with thankfulness for PCS – having teachers who can freely talk about Jesus and pray through challenging situations, be able to give students hope and real encouragement. The foundation our kids are getting here is solid. For that we say a deep-heartfelt ‘thank you’!We love the small school/family environment. Student/teacher ratio – much appreciated. Love the intermingle of Elementary/middle school/

high school. Support of the teachers is very appreciated! We are beyond grateful for the true sacrifice their teachers make to serve in a place like PCS. Our kids feel safe, loved & accepted here. Thank you!Prayer and spiritual leadership by teachers and staff is above and beyond. The teachers exceed our expectations and have nurtured our kids well!We love the communication – e-mail, newsletters, timely updates.DC trip, shoeboxes, food drives, 7/8th grade retreat, the many programs you put on, service projects, extra-curricular opportunities, volunteering opportunities…..Keeping high standards, Preparing students for college, Teaching kids how to be independent learners,SMART room, Access to teacher help is awesome. To name a few! Thank you for your responses.

One family’s why….Mrs. Messelt teaches 9th grade Bible. At the end of each semester, she writes a note to each student to nurture their growth and encourage them with scripture. Mrs. Nickel had a conversation with one young man’s mom who had received such a note from Mrs. Messelt. That note was instrumental in him returning to PCS the next year. The entire family (grandparents and parents alike) were very touched by the effort a teacher took to know their child and to encourage him to keep pursuing his relationship with Jesus. To repeat what many of you said, “We are so thankful for PCS!”
