He will be based out o Glasgow and replaces Mark Sullivan, who became the Region 6 Supervisor in October o 2015.  Tompson, 37, is originally rom Butte and holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Animal and Range Science rom Montana State University-Bozeman. He has been employed with FWP and since 2003. Tompson started his career in Culbertson as the area wildlie biologist. Along with other duties, Tompson worked closely with numerous private landowners in implementing rest rotation grazing systems and other habitat projects under the Upland Game Bird Enhancement and Migratory Bird Programs.  In addition, he played an active Scott Thompson at his new headquarters in Glasgow  Te NCAA Men’s Basketball ournament is well underway as we’re down to the Sweet 16. Suffice it to say a lot o the 64- team brackets are in deep trouble. Scott Tompson continued from front

role in securing public hunting access working withprivate landowners and the Block Management programand initiated the Tree Buttes Public Lands SigningProject. In 2008, Tompson was the recipient o theWildlie Division’s Most Valuable Project award or hiscontributions towards the Milk River Initiative.

  “My experience working with landowners on habitator access projects was some o the most rewarding workthat I accomplished early in my career,” said Tompson“I plan to continue working with my staff on improvinghabitat and public access across the Region.”  In 2010, Tompson became the Malta-area biologistWhile in Malta, he assumed the duties o the Region 6deer specialist, and initiated research to investigate elkdistribution relative to hunting access in the MissourRiver Breaks. In addition, Tompson continued to workactively on access and habitat projects, and established

urther positive communication between hunterslandowners, other agencies and FWP.In 2011, Tompson took the FWP lead in working withAlberta biologists on an international project to capturesage grouse in Phillips and Valley County to augmentAlberta’s dwindling sage grouse population. In 2012Tompson received the FWP Director’s Proessional othe Year Award or his important contributions to theagency.

Tompson plans to continue working towards

agency wildlie goals in Region 6. “We are very ortunateto have the wildlie populations, habitat, landownershiprelationships, and dedicated wildlie staff in Region 6that allow or a lot o good things to happen or wildliehunters, and other wildlie users,” said Tompson. “Ihope to maintain and build on those relationships, whilecontinuing to find room to improve the great wildlieresources we have.”Scott and his wie Jill have our boys, Lane, Owen, Garrettand Sam. Te amily loves the outdoors, and can ofen beseen hunting, fishing, and camping across Montana.
