These B-50-53 class boxcars were pooled and used in appliance service, and were built for Southern Pacific in 1965. Featuring DF loader technology and a Hydra-Cushion underframe, they were also excess height cars to allow more vertical room for bulky commodities.

This 36’ riveted steel caboose with offset cupola is red with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf Swing Motion trucks. Built in the 1940s, this caboose was shopped several times, receiving roof upgrades, interior reconditioning, and new paint. It was eventually relegated to local and transfer service before being retired in the 1970s.

These SD40-2 powered locomotives are grey with red nose and white lettering. Built in the late 1960s for Southern Pacific as an SD40, these units went through the extensive G.R.I.P. rebuild program, and were released as SD40R’s. Upgrades included electrical, crew amenity and headlight improvements. Many continued to serve in this paint scheme through the 2000s, even after SP was merged into UP in 1996.

DRAWING DETAILS:Anyone 12 years old and up can participate in the drawing. No purchase is necessary. Only one entry per person allowed for the entire drawing period (thru December’19). One participant will be randomly drawn each month. Micro-Trains employees are not eligible.
Participants can enter the drawing by mailing in the entry form or online at the Micro-Trains website. There is no advantage by submitting entries digitally or by mail-in. Once entered into the drawing, participants will remain in the drawing unless they are drawn as a winner. Once drawn as a winner, their entry will be removed and they cannot reenter the drawing in future months. Entries can be submitted March 1st through November 15th, 2019. The last drawing will be conducted during the end of November and announced December 1st.
All participants must agree to let MTL advertise their name as the winner in the Micro-News flyer, MTL website and Facebook, if drawn. Prizes will be shipped out to winners during the first half of each month, with the Anniversary Car shipping to winners during September through December.
