March 2014 Brandenburg United Methodist Church Steeple Bell Though this is a couple of months late, let me take this opportunity to express, on behalf of the entire Robinson family, our thankfulness for all the many gifts, cards, and good wishes we received from you during the Christmas holidays. In addition, we are grateful for the re- membrances and kind words you expressed during last fall’s time of pastor appreciation. It’s hard to believe we will soon be wrapping up six years serving as your pasto- ral family, and while I’m not sure how the time passed so quickly, it has truly been an honor to serve among you. As God continues to work in our midst, granting our church growth and increase and entrusting more and more to us, you remain open to new ministries and new ideas, which is a blessing to my heart! Thank you for your acceptance of me and my family into your community of faith, and thank you for the many ways we feel so appreciated. The season of Lent will soon be upon us, and with it comes an opportunity for each of us to intentionally make more space for Christ in the midst of our busy lives. Toward that end, we as a church are undertaking a couple of ambitious projects in preparation for Lent. We hope to distribute in just a few days our BUMC Lenten Devo- tional booklets, written by folks in our church as an aid to our quiet times with God during Lent. Thanks to all who wrote the various devotionals, as well to all those who helped get them printed and distributed. We also look forward to a 24-Hour Prayer Encoun- ter beginning on Friday, March 7, at 6:00 p.m. and concluding on Satur- day evening, March 8, at 6:00. Our church building will be open for us to pray in 30-minute increments on that weekend just after Ash Wednes- day (March 5), which formally begins Lent. Thanks to all those who plan to seek God in prayer during that fo- cused church-wide “encounter.” God bless... – Pastor Jim Sunday Evenings at 6 p.m.
