Geology WeekPerth | 19 – 23 March, 2012

CAE Mining is pleased to offer Geology week from 10 to 23 March 2012.

This week will appeal to mining personnel working in the areas of Geology and Metallurgy and commences with two concurrent three-day master classes followed by a two day conference.

Geology week will provide attendees with an invaluable opportunity to learn and listen about new and emerging trends in the industry.

Presenters during the week include world experts in the field of Geological Sciences who will use practical case studies to explain the application of their areas of expertise.

Masterclass: GeoMet

This 3-day masterclass will provide Geologists and Metallurgists with a methodology and practical case studies for implementing a geometallurgical system at a mine. This workshop is facilitated by Guillermo Turner-Saad. Guillermo is a global geometallurgical expert and is currently managing the implementation of geometallurgical systems at two mining operations.

Masterclass: Conditional Simulation, Combined Unfold and Dynamic Ainstrophy

This 3-day masterclass is designed for resource geologists who use CAE Mining’s Datamine Studio3 and would like to learn how to apply Studio3’s tools for evaluating the geological uncertainty of resource block models. This workshop will teach attendees the techniques for applying conditional simulation, unfold and dynamic anisotrophy to a resource block model. The workshop is facilitated by Jonathan Graham. Jonathan is an expert in applying these techniques for clients resource models around the world.

Conference: Geology User Conference

This conference is an opportunity to listen to presentations from world renowned experts and geologists and metallurgists who are using emerging technology and techniques. A selection of topics covered during this conference includes grade control, multiparametric modelling, geometallurgy, and optimisation. Conference registration includes entry to the pre- conference function and conference dinner.

Engineering WeekGold Coast | 26 – 30 March, 2012

This week will appeal to mining personnel working in the areas of technical mining engineering and cost or budget estimation and commences with four concurrent three-day master classes followed by a two day conference.

Mining week will provide attendees with an invaluable opportunity to learn and listen about new and emerging trends in the industry.

Presenters during the week include world experts in the field of Mining who will use practical case studies to explain the application of their areas of expertise.

Masterclass: Mine Estimation, Project Costing and Operational Budgeting

This 3-day masterclass is designed for mining engineers, financial controllers and cost estimators. The masterclass will utilise a software package called Hard Dollar. Hard Dollar is a software product incorporating a set a tools to effectively manage cost and performance for surface and underground mine projects including feasibility studies, construction and reclamation. This workshop will cover many aspects of estimation, project costing and operational budgeting.

Masterclass: Advanced Ventilation

This 2-day masterclass is designed for personnel involved with the selection, design and maintenance of underground ventilation systems. The ventilation masterclass will focus on: identifying life of mine ventilation requirements; designing efficient ventilation circuits; identifying and resolving ventilation bottlenecks; designing a safe and efficient work environment for underground workers; ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines; and problem solving typical ventilation issues.

Masterclass: Open Pit Mine Project Evaluation

This 3-day masterclass is designed for personnel who would like to use real options analysis for evaluating the economic potential of open pits. CAE Mining has partnered with ROMPEV to deliver this masterclass. This masterclass will show attendees how to evaluate a mine project under conditions of geological and economic uncertainty. The masterclass will also show delegates how to apply managerial and operational flexibility to minimise risk and maximise value.

Masterclass: Upgrade from Mine 2-4D to Datamine Studio 5D Planner

This 2-day masterclass workshop will provide mine design and scheduling engineers with the opportunity to learn how to use CAE Mining’s mine design and scheduling product – Studio5D Planner. Existing Mine2-4D users will find that Studio5D Planner has incorporated many suggested enhancements which improve speed and ease of use.

Conference: Engineering User Conference

This conference is an opportunity to listen to presentations from world renowned experts and industry professionals who are using emerging technology and techniques. A selection of topics covered during this conference includes: trends in ventilation; project evaluation; operational budgeting and costing; field robotics; long term planning and skills shortages. Leadership MasterclassBrisbane | 12 – 14 March, 2012

CAE Mining is conducting a 3-day leadership masterclass for managers working in the mining industry. The masterclass identifies and discusses the most common leadership characteristics for effective management in the mining industry.

The masterclass will evaluate and identify each participant’s current leadership style. Attendees are then guided through the process of designing a professional development plan to improve their leadership and management skills.

Drill & Blast MasterclassBrisbane | 19 – 23 March, 2012

Presented by CAE Mining’s preferred drill and blast partner – Prism Mining, this 3-Day masterclass is intended for mining managers and drill and blast superintendents.

This masterclass will explain practical methods for implementing optimal drill and blast practices at underground and open pit mines. The masterclass includes time for addressing drill and blast issues raised by attendees.

The masterclass presenters have extensive on-site practical drill and blast experience in surface coal mines and open pit and underground metalliferous mines.

Mine Automation MasterclassBrisbane | 26 – 30 March, 2012

Presented by CAE Mining’s preferred automation partner – Sage Automation, this 5-Day masterclass is intended for personnel working at mineral processing plants.

This masterclass will use “hands-on” process plant technology to develop their automation skills and knowledge through practical experience.

The masterclass includes a challenging project to consolidate and apply knowledge learnt during the week.
