• During the first week the refund is 50%. • After the first week no refund. • In no case shall be reimbursed extracurricular activities. For

Through the National Mobility Program students from various universities

in the country that have an agreement with the Universidad Veracruzana

and / or are part of the national convention of mobility ANUIES (National

Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education) and / or the

ECOES (Common Space for Higher Education), can spend a semester or up to

one academic year at our institution with credit recognition.

It is important that students who wish to participate in any of the calls avai-

lable to contact the department's academic exchange at their home institu-

tion to qualify in time for our Department of International Relations with the

National Scholarship Coordination and International Mobility management

to perform the appropriate management for acceptance of applications

CULTURAL IMMERSION PROGRAM

Cultural Immersion Program provides foreign students the oppor-tunity to become familiar with the local environment, to understand the Mexican culture and, through personal interaction with a Cultu-ral Assistant facilitates the acquisition of the Spanish language in an everyday environment. The program is tailored to the individual needs of each Exchange student. Students Cultural Assistants are assigned to areas of study or work together and / or with similar interests.

What are the objectives of the program?

• Ease the acquisition of spanish language • Familiarize students with the city of Xalapa, and help them

adapt to everyday life during their stay. • To guide foreign students in the understanding and apprecia-

tion of the characteristics that distinguish the Mexican culture. How is it Organized: The program Coordinator trains and supervises the Cultural Aides in their work. Periodically both students and Cultural Aides report their activities, reflections and benefitis from the program. If Problems arise, such as in-compatibility of personalities, scheduling, or discrepancies of language level, the Coordinator will intervene and assist with any necessary adjust-ments. During the Fall and Spring semeters, the program consists of 12 sessions distributed over 4 weeks, usually in three 1 hour sessions per week. For Summer terms there are 18 sessions over the course of 6 weeks. Who are the cultural aides The Cultural Aides are, mainly, U.V. students and graduates who have been carefully prepared for this task. In the training and selection process, the Coordinator employs valuable human and material resources to en-sure a high quality educational program.

The Self-Access Centre organizes cultural and academic project with the voluntary participation of foreign students, offering them a place to share and express with Mexican students and the general public their culture through films. Mexican films included in this program will be part of the "Carlos Fuentes Lecture". So the projections are based on novels or screenplays made by this paper.

MIGRATION AFFARIS

For a stay of 180 days or less and a nationality that does not re-quire a visa to enter the country, should not make any immigration procedure, only enter Mexico with the visa issued to them upon arrival, and will remain throughout your stay and will be entitled to get their credits without much problem. In cases of nationalities that require a visa, even if the stay is for a maximum of 180 days, you should go to the nearest Mexican Em-bassy or Consulate, to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa Stu-dent and once it is in Xalapa, go to the Coordination of Programs and Services with Ms. Carla Maria Lopez to receive his advice to request redemption of it and finish the procedure.

For a stay for more than 180 days, the students must necessarily go to the Embassy or nearest Mexican consulate and apply for a Temporary Resident Visa Student and once it is in Xalapa, go to Programs and Services Coordination with Ms. Carla Maria Lopez to receive his advice to request redemption of it and finish the pro-cedure.

HOMESTAY PROGRAM

The Coordination of Programs and Services has an extensive direc-tory of families that are carefully selected to provide students with a room and food in a familiar context and according to your preferen-ces. (Family with children, without children, young, central location, non smoking, with pets, no pets, etc..) The family is the foundation of every culture, and Mexico is no ex-ception, because of this daily interaction in a family environment to help students cope with Mexican culture. Families support students to learn practical Spanish through the interaction with people of dif-ferent ages, and to offer various services such as accommodation, one bedroom clean with adequate space to do homework, (can be Single or shared), food, including three meals a day and if the stu-dent requires a special diet, can apply. The relationship between Mexican families and students is always fruitful as students become a member of it, feeling welcomed and protected at all times, so that will create strong links and relations-hips that most cases are forever, this due to the coexistence that exists during the stay in the program. Artistic workshops are offered to students as part of the recreational acti-vities that can be done during your stay in Mexico, through music, sin-ging, painting and dancing you will be immersed in the culture of this country, in a professional and pleasant way. Talles de Coro El objetivo principal de este taller es ofrecer las bondades que proporcio-na el canto, para que los estudiantes adquirir aprendizajes ligados direc-tamente con la Educación Musical, potenciando la capacidad creadora y reforzando la memoria del idioma mediante repertorios de algunas can-ciones populares mexicanas. Salsa Workshop Through dance individuals express emotions, feelings, thoughts and ideas in common spaces and the benefits of body language, through rhythms and dynamic changes, where more than physical performance, it has a communicative intention. Salsa has become the quintessential dance almost any social event in Mexico and is offered to students interested in joining one of the most fun alternative for your stay in Mexico.

Guitar Workshop The guitar is one of the most popular and appreciated among tho-se who want to learn to play a musical instrument, it will allow you to develop agility in hand, develop the sense of hearing and musi-cal sensitivity.

Mexican Painting Workshop Painting is a way of artistic expression to tell the actual reality of a country, and in Mexico it has been developed through pre-hispanic times, both on walls and canvases.

The Mexican painting workshop's main objective that foreign stu-dents learn oil painting techniques, with a focus on Mexican artistic ideology.You will also get to know the leading exponents of Mexi-can painting and their works.

VOLUNTARY SERVICE

Xalapa has a variety of nonprofit institutions and organizations engaged in work for the needy. The General Directorate of Inter-national Relations through the Coordination of Programs and Ser-vices offers the Voluntary Service Program. Designed to offer stu-dents the opportunity to participate in social welfare programs to support the community in which they will be teporary integrated. The student will have the opportunity to practice their skills, sha-ring their time with children, adolescents and adults.

Conditions:

• You are free to set the number of days a week and the time to be involved

CULTURAL TRIPS

Throughout the semester visits, excursions and cultural tours to different places near the city of Xalapa are organized. These trips are arranged depending on the number of interested students, re-quiring a minimum of 12 participants per trip. Among the options, the following are available:

Teotihuacán– Metropolotan Cathedral and National Palace

Itinerary

Visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, a great symbol for catholics, situated in the roads crossing the spiritual center of the aztec capital, using in its construction the stones that used to be a part of the Great Temple of Tenochtitlán. Then, you will visit the National Palace, location for the Executive Power in Mexico. The Templo Mayor Museum was inaugurated on October 12, 1987, this is home to thousands of archeological pieces from 1978 to date. Meet the Angel of Independence and other important land-marks of the Mexican capital. Antigua-Tajín-Tecolutla Itinerary La Antigua, where there was a pre-Hispanic village called "Huitzilapa". During most of the sixteenth century was the settle-ment Veracruz city, so it is known as "Vera Cruz Vieja". Cempoala is one of the most important cities of the Gulf Coast, one of its most striking features is a set of stepped rings. Main chronological location: Postclassic, 900-1521 AD Quiahuiztlan is a settlement of the coastal plain of Veracruz, dating from the Epiclassic period. Tecolutla was a Hispanic population that has appeared in various historical facts and many traditions. El Tajin is the city with the hig-hest number of ball games: 17.

Puebla-Cholula Itinerary The church of San Francisco Acatepec, in San Andrés Cholula, built in the seventeenth century and decorated between 1650 and 1750, is considered a masterpiece of Mexican Baroque. Its facade is covered with talavera eart-henware. Other notable chur-ches we will visit on this trip are: Santa Maria Tonantzin-tlan, Chapel Royal, St. Ga-briel Church Fortress and the Temple of Santo Domingo. Meet the former main square of the town and observe the religious syncretism in the archaeological zone of Cho-lula, which shares its space with the Sanctuary of the Virgen de los Remedios. In Puebla we will also find the Palafox Library, considered the first public library in the Americas.

Los Tuxtlas: Catemaco-Tlacotalpan-Veracruz Itinerary

Visit the Museum of Los Tux-tlas, whose exhibition includes two Olmec heads; smaller head, Nextepe and larger than 20 tons, the Hueyapan Head and the volcanic famous sculpture "El Negro". Also visit one of the three centers in southeastern Mexico Olmec, Three Zapotes, where they found two of the 17 colossal heads that until now exist known. Other landmarks of this region with abundant natural wealth, are: Monkey Island, Eyipantla jump, Nanciyaga ecological park. Another town to be visited to enjoy their traditions will be Tla-cotalpan meaning “In the land of jarillas or rods”. Old Totonac territory, until the twelfth century AD

Special Programs are a series of academic and cultural ac-tivities planned to fulfill the needs of a specific group of stu-dents, professors or international visitors depending on their academic area, length of their stay, size of the group and their Spanish level. Our goal is to help visitors enter deep into Mexican culture and provide them with an intercultural learning experience in their own field of study. Special Programs usually consist of several courses: inten-sive Spanish, Mexican society and culture, cultural visits, field trips and lectures conducted by specialists of the UV and visiting faculty. This learning environment gives the students the opportunity to observe and practice. Some study areas fit to these pro-grams are Education, Business, Ecology, Health and For-eign Language Teaching. They may vary depending on the groups’ needs. Available courses. AIRPORT TRANSFER SERVICE

Throughout the school year, DGRI offers Exchange students air-port transportation services, both from the arrival airport to the city of Xalapa, and at the end of your stay, from Xalapa to the departu-re airport. The services offered, with all expenses included, are: Car with driver for 1-3 passengers. The driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to your home in the city of Xalapa.

Tips on preventing future diseases

MEXICAN DIET AND CUISINE

Mexican cuisine is vast and varied depending on geographic re-gion. The chicken, beef, pork and fish are very common in Mexico but you can find delicious dishes made from giblets. Most Mexican dishes are too spicy. This can cause major problems for foreigners visiting our country. Digestive disorders are very common here in Mexico, not only for foreigners even for Mexicans also. Getting used to the Mexican cuisine can take time but once you get used digestive problems disappear.

SEAFOOD CONSUMPTION

During the rainy season (May to August) the Department of Public Health recommends avoid eating raw seafood (octopus, for exam-ple) to prevent cholera and other infectious diseases, so if you decide to eat seafood, do it in familiar places and make sure they are well cooked.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

We recommend eating only fruits and vegetables that have been previously cleaned and disinfected.

PURIFIED WATER CONSUMPTION

Never drink water straight from the faucet, before you do, you should boil it for 20 minutes. It is more advisable to buy bot-tled water.

SUNBURN

During your stay in Mexico you will probably visit some tropical and archaeological areas where you will be exposed to the sun for long periods of time which can cause you serious skin burns. We re-commend the use of sunscreen, appropriate clothing, sunglasses and a hat or cap while you are in these places. Other recommen-dations include drinking enough bottled water to prevent dehydra-tion and use mosquito repellent.

ACUATIC ACTIVITIES

Due to the strong ocean currents, swimming and other water sports in the Gulf of Mexico are not recommended for people with little experience. If you choose to perform these activities is at your

Foreign students in Mexico should know that here, as in the Most countries of the world, the possession, use and trafficking of drugs is severely punished. We recommend that you avoid these activities. In our country you must be 18 to drink alcohol. If so, please try to be a moderate. And if you decide to have sex during your stay in Mexico do not forget to use protection to prevent sexually transmitted disease.
