“Let us fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Corinthians 4:18

Dear Family and Friends of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Christian School,

In the spirit of honoring our PROUD TRADITION and PROMISING FUTURE, we thought it important to share how generosity has impacted our school. Generosity encompasses our entire POPCS family, including students, their families, faculty and staff. It is demonstrated throughout our hallways during the entire school year. We are grateful for each persons’ contribution of time, talents and treasure. We have been so blessed to have so many new opportunities available for our students. With the completion of the first phases of the Athletic Complex, we have now begun to enjoy our first events “underneath the lights.”

Included in this report is a look at where we are as a school with our development process, what’s been acheived, and how we are inspired to grow. that growth continues to build upon excellence in all areas of our school ministry, including academic, athletics, the arts, relation-ships and service.

I hope you enjoy reading our story. I’d like to extend a special thank you to those familes who have made the commitment in supporting our school by joining the Legacy society. this offer of sustained giving helps to ensure we have continuity in reaching our goals.

With His Continued Blessings,

Chris HahnHeadmasterPrince of Peace Christian SchoolINSIDE

Varsity Cheerleaders joined other POPCS High School students to serve hungry children at the Feed My Starving Children event in Lewisville, Texas. The student volunteers packaged enough meals to serve over 500 children in 3rd world countries for an entire year!

Lower School students completely lined the hallways of POPCS with food donations during National Lutheran Schools Week. The food donations were given out through the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Food Pantry.

Middle School students were able to help a needy school in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, by providing gently used clothing and new school supplies. This was a big help to the families of the children who could not afford such items and were therefore unable to start school with the rest of the children.

Students in Preschool 3 - Grade 8 will celebrate Grandparents’ Day. Since students anticipate having a special friend joining them during the festivities, parents are strongly encouraged to make arrangements to have their child’s grandparent(s) or special friend(s) attend. By completing and returning the Grandparents’ Day form, you will ensure your child’s guests will receive a personal invitation. Grandparents’ Day forms are included in the summer packet.

Auction (April 9, 2011)

Mark your calendars for April 9, 2011, so you won’t miss POPCS’ gala event! The Annual Auction Gala is the premier social event and the largest fund-raiser of the year. The evening features both a live and silent Auction, which includes over 800 items in all price ranges. Bidding begins a week prior to the event, with an online Auction that features class projects, teacher board items, parties and many other fantastic items. Online Auction items will not be available for purchase the night of Auction. In order to ensure a successful event, we need your help! All families are encouraged to assist with their child’s class project, which will be available for purchase in the online Auction. Gift gathering will begin in late January. During this time, families are asked to donate items to the Auction. All classes who achieve 100% participation will be rewarded with great prizes. No matter your time or talent, the auction committee has many volunteer opportunities available! For more information, please contact Tori Rush, Director of Events, at [email protected] or 972-447-0532, ext. 412..
