We have split our safety precautions into two degrees of danger.

WARNING This describes issues which could cause death orseriousinjury.

●Ifyouwillnotbeusingthewashingmachineforawhile,suchaswhenyougoonholiday,turnoffthewatersupplytothewashingmachine.Thisisparticularlyimportant if there is no drainage around the washing machine.If the water supply is left on, water pressure may build up and cause a leak.

General Use●Donotinstallyourwashingmachineanywherethatisdamporexposedtothe

weather.If you do, it may cause an electric shock, fire, failure or deterioration.

●Donotpourwaterdirectlyontoanypartofthewashingmachine.It may cause a short circuit or electric shock.

●Keepburningobjectssuchascandlesorcigarettes,awayfromthewashingmachine. They may cause a fire or damage.

Power source and cable●Useanindependenthouseholddedicatedmainssocket,fullyratedatAC

220V to 240V.If the washing machine is plugged in with other appliances, it may overheat and cause a fire.

●Makesurethemainsplugispushedfirmlyinthesocket. A loose connection may overheat and cause electrical shock or a fire.

●Checkthemainsleadandmainsplugforanydamage. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent orsimilarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

●Unplugthemainsleadwhencleaningthewashingmachine.●Donottouchthemainsleadormainsplugwithwethands.

It may cause an electric shock.

●Checkthemainsplugregularlyfordirt. If dirt accumulates on the mains plug, it could cause a fire. To prevent this, unplug the cableand clean the mains plug with a dry rag.

ToPreventInjury●Donotdismantle,repairormodifythewashingmachine.

It may cause washing machine troubles.

●Becarefulnottogetyourlaundrycaughtinthedoorwhenyoucloseit. This could cause a water leak or damage to laundry.

Powersource,Mainslead●Ifyoudisconnectthemainsplug,holdontothemainsplugnotthecable.

 Pulling the cable may cause an electric shock or a fire.

●Donotuseamainsplugadaptororextensioncable.It may overheat and cause a fire.

●Makesureyourhomevoltagematchesthevoltagedisplayedonthewashingmachine.Ifyouarenotsure,contactanelectrician.

ToPreventInjury●Donotclimbonthewashingmachine.

Youmayhurtyourselfordamagethewashingmachine.

●Whenopeningandclosingthedoorensureyoukeepfingersawayfromthedoorhinge,orthiscouldleadtoinjury. ●Checkyourwashingforobjectssuchasnails,pins,coins,clipsetc. They could damage your laundry or the washing machine.

Beforethefirstuse

Do not put anything into the washing machine.Cotton 40 ºC programme is the default setting. Run the washing machine for thefirst time without any detergent or clothing to rinse out any residue or moisture.

Organizinglaundry

●Readthewashinglabeloneachgarmenttohelpyousortyourwashingintodifferent loads.

●Sortthelaundrybycolour,typeoffabricandbyhowsoileditis.Thiswillhelpyouchoose the correct programme and temperature for each wash.

Preparing the laundryTreating stains before washing

●CollarandsleeveApply stain remover to thestained parts of collars andsleeves.

●SpotsApply appropriate stainremover to spots.

●DirtandsolidstainsApply stain remover orspecial soap to stains suchas curry, tomato sauce andplant dye, then wash lightlyby hand first.

How to lock or unlock the door The door is automatically locked

while any programme is running.sign is shown while the door is

locked.*  The door normally clicks when it locksor unlocks.

Caution

●Switchingthewashingmachineoffatthe plug doesn’t unlock the door.

●Ifthedoorislockedandyouswitchthewashing machine off – or if there’s a power

cut – it will stay locked until you turn it backon again.

To unlock the door while aprogramme is running

During operation

Press theSTART button.Afterthedrumstopsspinning,the door will automatically unlockand will be signaled with a clickingsound. This can take about a

minute.* If you have to unlock the door mid-

programme, try to make sure you don’tflood the floor with water from the drum.

How to add detergent and softener Pull out the detergent drawer and add detergent or softener to thecorrect compartment.Only use detergents recommended for fully-automated washingmachine. Refer to the instructions on the packaging for appropriateamounts to use for di fferent wash programmes.

Liquid detergent

 Add detergent to the relevantcompartment in the drawer:

Liquid detergent●Don’tuseforPrewashprogrammes.

Liquid mild detergent●UseforWoolwashprogrammes.

Powdered detergent

●Ifyouforgettoadddetergent,youcandrainthe washing machine by running a Drainonlyfunction,usingtheMODEbutton. Then you can add detergent and start theprogramme again. (Detergent only reaches thedrum when water flushes through the detergentdrawer).

●Topreventpowdereddetergentstayingin the drawer:●Drytheinsideofthedrawerwithacloth.●Makesurethepowderisn’tlumpywhenyou

add it.

 Add sof tener before you start theprogramme–thewashingmachineautomatically adds it to the finalrinse cycle.●Diluteconcentratedsoftenersbeforeyouadd them. Only add up to 130 ml to thecompartment to avoid over-flowing.

Softener should notexceed the MAX level inthe compartment.

* Wash out unused softener with a splash of water or a damp cloth after the programme hasfinished.If it sticks in the compartment put out the drawerand clean it up.(see page 28)

●Foamingvariesaccordingtotheamountand type of detergent you use, as well ashow soiled the laundry is, and the hardnessand temperature of the water.

●Whenopeningthedoormid-operation,water and foams droplets may fall from thedoor and the door hole.

In this case, you may require a towel to beused to catch any of them if necessary.

How to use laundry starch

Laundry starch makes your clothes crisp in texture.

Synthetic laundry starch is a stiffening agent.

Moving and installingRemoving the anchor bolts

Four anchor bolts keep the interior of the washing machine in place while it’s being moved. Theyneed to be removed before installation, using the spanner supplied and following the instructionsbelow.

Don’trunthewashingmachinewithoutremovingthebolts,asthiscancause excessive vibration.

●Toremovetheanchorbolts:

Use the ‘B’ end of the spanner to loosen thefour bolts.

Pull the bolts out horizontally.

Remove the screws which are alongside thebolt holes.

Push the four cover caps (included with youraccessories) onto the respective bolt holes,and secure them with the screws you removedin step.

 You’llneedtheanchorboltsagainifyoumovethewashingmachine,somake sure you keep them safe. And if the washing machine passes tosomeoneelse,makesureyougivethemtheanchorbolts.

Leak-proof SystemThis system is designed to prevent water leaks from

thewashingmachine,andincludesthefollowingcomponents:

1) Leak sensorLocated on the base plate of the washing machine, this sensor detects leaks and stops thewashing machine. If this happens, an error display starting with H (e.g. H 01) will appear,and you should contact your Customer Service Centre.

2) Hose with water-supply valve (certain types of washing machine only)If this type of hose becomes damaged and leaks, the valve closes automatically and stopsthe water supply.

3) Overflow detectionIf water collects in the washing machine above a certain level, this function prevents thewashing machine overflowing by stopping the water supply and activating the drain pump.
