INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Getting Started

IMPORTANT: Proper initial installation of equipmentwill assure more satisfactory performance, longer ser-vice life, and lower maintenance cost.

IMPORTANT: The use of a backflow preventer on thewater supply hose is recommended and may berequired by local code.

The pressure washer should be run on a level surfaceand in a protected area where it is not readily influencedby outside forces such as strong winds, freezingtemperatures, rain, etc. The pressure washer should belocated to assure easy access for filling of fluids, adjustments and maintenance. Normal precautions shouldbe taken by the operator to prevent moisture from reachingthe pressure washer. It is recommended that a partitionbe made between the wash area and the pressure washerto prevent direct spray from the wand from coming incontact with the pressure washer. Moisture reaching theequipment will reduce the pressure washer’s service life. All installations must comply with the local codes coveringsuch installations.

Electrical

WARNING: Make sure all switches and controls are inthe OFF position prior to connecting electrical sup-ply.

WARNING: DO NOT stand in water while connectingand disconnecting electrical supply.

IMPORTANT: Consult local building codes for exactelectrical requirements. Licensed contractors may berequired.

The 5700 Series is designed for connection to an overloadprotected grounded circuit. It is recommended this circuitbe protected by a UL approved ground fault circuitinterrupter (GFCI). An electrical disconnect must beprovided in this circuit. All wiring must be of proper voltageand amperage rating and conform to applicable codes.Refer to Figure 5 for wiring connections. A hole has beenprovided in the control box for attachment of 1 inchelectrical conduit.

For proper operation the motor rotation is to becounterclockwise as viewed looking towards the rear ofthe motor (opposite pump attachment). If the rotation isincorrect, interchange any two of the power supplyconnections to reverse rotation.

Venting

DANGER: DO NOT run machine indoors or in anenclosed area without proper ventilation, as exhaustfumes may be hazardous to your health.

DANGER: DO NOT operate machine in areas whereflammable vapors (gasoline, solvents, etc.) may bepresent, as this machine may ignite the vapors.

CAUTION: All venting must be in accordance withapplicable federal and state laws, and local ordinances. This machine is not to be connected to a type B gasvent. Consult local heating contractors.

If the pressure washer is to be used in an enclosed area,a flue must be installed to vent burner exhaust to theoutside atmosphere. Be sure the flue is the same size asthe burner exhaust vent on the pressure washer lid. Poordraft will cause the pressure washer to soot and notoperate properly. When selecting the location forinstallation, beware of poorly ventilated locations or areaswhere exhaust fans may cause an insufficient supply ofoxygen. Proper combustion can only be obtained whenthere is a sufficient supply of oxygen available for theamount of fuel being burned. If it is necessary to installthe machine in a poorly ventilated area, outside fresh airmay have to be piped to the burner and a fan installed tobring sufficient air into the machine. Locate the pressurewasher so that the flue will be as straight as possible andprotrude through the roof at a proper height and locationto provide adequate draft. This oil fired pressure washermust have a draft regulator installed in the flue (availablefrom most heating contractors). A draft regulator will permitproper upward flow of exhaust flue gases.

Oil BurnerBurner Air Adjustment: The oil burner is preset andperformance tested at the factory (elevation 500 feet). Aonetime initial correction of the burner for your locationwill pay off in economy, performance, and extendedservice life.

To adjust, start machine and turn burner ON (refer toOperation for details). Loosen locking screw (refer toFigure 6) and close air band until black smoke appearsfrom burner exhaust vent. Note air band position. Next,Figure 5 - Wiring Connections

For additional burner information, refer to Oil BurnerManual provided with this pressure washer.

Gas Burner

CAUTION: Have a qualified gas serviceman install andservice your equipment.

WARNING: Gas line supply pressure must not exceed14 water column inches (.50 PSI).

IMPORTANT: Gas line must be provided with a shutoff valve.

IMPORTANT: The gas supply must be able to supply aminimum of 525,000 BTU/HR at the machines ratedmanifold pressure.

Consult building codes for installation requirements. For proper and safe machine operation, we recommendthat a licensed contractor be consulted for machineinstallation.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Natural Gas FuelHave a qualified gas serviceman install the natural gasfuel supply line to the machine. See Figure 7 for locationof gas inlet.

Gas ValveThe ideal incoming gas pressure is 11 w.c.i. (watercolumn inches) minimum 6 w.c.i., maximum 14 w.c.i. or1/2 psig. The correct operating manifold pressure fornatural gas is 3.5 w.c.i. The operating manifold pressurefor propane gas is 11 w.c.i. The gas valve pressureregulator can be adjusted between 3 and 4 w.c.i. naturalgas or 6 and 11 w.c.i. for propane.

The gas pressure coming out of the regulator and goingto the burner ring has been factory set. You should notreadjust the burner ring gas pressure. If you replace yourgas valve, you will need to adjust the new valve. Referto your machine’s specification plate for the correctpressure setting. Follow the installation and adjustmentinstructions provided with your replacement valve.

CLEANING TECHNIQUESPre-rinse cleaning surface with fresh water. Place de-tergent suction tube directly into cleaning solution andapply to surface at low pressure (for best results, limityour work area to sections approximately 6 feet squareand always apply detergent from bottom to top). Allowdetergent to remain on surface 1-3 minutes. Do notallow detergent to dry on surface. If surface appears tobe drying, simply wet down surface with fresh water. Ifneeded, use brush to remove stubborn dirt. Rinse athigh pressure from top to bottom in an even sweepingmotion keeping the spray nozzle approximately 1 footfrom cleaning surface. Use overlapping strokes as youclean and rinse any surface. For best surface cleaningaction spray at a slight angle.

Recommendations:• Before cleaning any surface, an inconspicuous

area should be cleaned to test spray pattern anddistance for maximum cleaning results.

• If painted surfaces are peeling or chipping, useextreme caution as pressure washer may removethe loose paint from the surface.

• Keep the spray nozzle a safe distance from the sur-face you plan to clean. High pressure wash a smallarea, then check the surface for damage. If no dam-age is found, continue to pressure washing.

CAUTION - Never use:• Bleach, chlorine products and other corrosive

chemicals• Liquids containing solvents (i.e., paint thinner,

gasoline, oils)• Tri-sodium phosphate products• Ammonia products• Acid-based products

These chemicals will harm the machine and will dam-age the surface being cleaned.

GENERAL CLEANING TECHNIQUES & STORAGE

RINSINGIt will take a few seconds for the detergent to clear.Apply safety latch to spray gun. Select and install de-sired high pressure nozzle. NOTE: You can also stopdetergent from flowing by removing detergent siphontube from bottle.

STORAGE

DANGER: DO NOT store flammable liquids (gasoline, diesel fuel, solvents, etc.) near pressure washer, orin non-ventilated areas.

Protect from freezing by storing in a heated area, or byflushing the system with antifreeze (use an automotiveengine antifreeze or windshield washer solvent toantifreeze). To flush the system fill the float tank withantifreeze and remove pressure nozzle from wand. Startthe machine and allow it to run until antifreeze flows fromthe end of the wand. Place end of wand into float tankand circulate the antifreeze through system for severalminutes. Squeeze and release the trigger of the triggergun several times to antifreeze the unloader system. Alsodraw antifreeze through the detergent inlet line toantifreeze the detergent system. For added protectionafter antifreezing, disconnect the pressure hose frommachine and remove the coil drain plug (refer to Figure12 Item 15 for location). After coil has drained, replacepressure hose and coil drain plug.
