    Students will examine the role and importance of strategicbusiness planning in organisations. The business environmentis, however, fluid and businesses need to respond to bothinternal and external factors when reviewing their strategies.

    Strategies need to be designed in such a way as to achievecompetitive advantage. Both the strategies and the nature ofcompetitive advantage are dependent on, and need to bealigned to, what the business is and what the business does.There are a number of operational and emerging issues thatimpact upon business strategy, and students will learn howsustainable and ethical considerations have an increasingimpact on strategy.

Organisations need tochange in order to survive and students will develop anunderstanding the nature of the change process and howmanagers can accommodate the need for change through

    Students will examine the role and importance of humanresource management in supporting business strategy.Human resource management strategy is subsidiary to, butsupportive of, organisational purposes so has to beenmeshed with them. The business environment changesand strategic human resource management mustaccommodate these changes but at the same time it mustensure that employee engagement is maintained through aprocess of workforce development. Marketing strategy alsosupports organisational purposes and is central to theachievement of many organisational goals related toprofitability, growth and revenue generation. Marketingactivities need to be focused to allow these dimensions ofbusiness behaviour to be developed.     Unit description

    The unit considers the requirements of corporatemanagement by looking at how business strategy andoperations are shaped by looking at both globalconsiderations and a range of system factors. The unit thenexamines corporate governance and the factors that need tobe taken into account when ensuring best practice corporategovernance is in place. In addition there is pressure oncorporations to demonstrate that management behaves inethical and socially responsible ways that go beyond legaland regulatory requirements. The inter-relationship ofbusiness strategy and corporate management is ofincreasing importance to a wide range of stakeholders whohave diverse interests but ultimately want to seeorganisations develop in the global economy.

The businessenvironment and business activities are subject to risk anduncertainty and students will examine how risk anduncertainty can be factored in to nancial management toensure problems are accounted for and minimised. The unitteaches students how to assess the nancial state of abusiness using the requisite tools and how to interpret theresults to gain a better understanding of the businessnancial performance in order to decide how its nancialresources could be managed better

    1. Marketing Design and Innovation

    Unit description

    The module investigates stylistic change in taste, fashion andcustomer need by examining contemporary issues inmarketing, design and innovation, including dependencyproducts and services.

    Marketing principles of product and service design,

    functionality and purpose, customer perception, value andbranding extend to the consideration of patenting ideas,design registration, trade marking and intellectual property.The module also looks at the influence of marketingcommunications on demand. The design process is thenexamined from the customer perspective, involving newproduct development, life cycle, and the importance ofdesign in enhancing competitiveness.

    Finally, the module investigates current developments indesign and product/service innovation and the introductionof mass customization in global markets

    Unit description

    This module provides course participants with theappropriate knowledge, skills and abilities they will need toeffectively carry out a piece of small scale business /management research. A particular emphasis will be placedupon developing individuals towards their workplace basedMasters Dissertation / project.

    A focus is given to the specific issues faced by managers andresearchers when carrying out research in an organisationalsetting. These will include the philosophical aspects ofenquiry in social settings, operating in political contexts,negotiating access to key individuals and data, and meetingthe research outcomes expected by multiple organisationalstakeholders.

    Consequently, this module will focus on providingindividuals with the skills necessary to meet thesechallenges and therefore effectively plan, carry out and

    report upon their Masters level dissertation /project. One ofthe main focuses for the design of this module has been thefurther development of relevant employability andprofessional skills. Such skills are implicit in the learningoutcomes.

    PART 2MBA top-up StageModule Details

    3. Dissertation (Research Project)

    Unit description

    In order to obtain a Masters degree you must prepare,submit, and pass a dissertation. Apart from this regulationrequirement there are a number of reasons why thedissertation is a very important part of your studies. Thedissertation allows you an opportunity to demonstrate, at anadvanced level, several important intellectual and practicalskills. These skills are valued by employers and as thedissertation is your own work it is proof that you havemastered them. In fact, sometimes your dissertation will help you to obtain an interview or and the position you want.

    The dissertation is not a taught module and this means thatthe research and writing up of your endings is very much anindividual effort. that allows you to demonstrate bothorganizational and time management skills. You will havefurther honed your research skills and techniques anddeepened your understanding of at least one major area ofbusiness and/or business related areas. Other high level skillswhich will be developed and improved include evaluation,synthesis, and critical thinking.

    Finally, a well-written dissertation enables you todemonstrate communication and presentation skills.

    The module will be assessed by a 15,000 word researchreport. You will be assigned a supervisor to guide youthrough your project and make sure you are on the righttrack.

    The course would be delivered on a blended learning format encompassing highly interactivesessions, workshops, seminars, project work and case studies. The first part of the program would be

    internally assessed and externally verified by Association of Business Practitioners (ABP), a not-for-profit professional body from the UK. The second part will be delivered in association with LondonSchool of Marketing (LSM), UK, an associate college of Anglia Ruskin University. Assessment of Part-1modules would be a mix of assignments and case studies whilst the classes will be delivered twice aweek during evening hours. Students shall also optionally have the choice of selecting onsite oronline mode of study for Part-1 modules. During Part 2 of the qualification, students will have fullaccess to LSMs Integrated Modular Study System (IMSS), where students can access all coursematerials, lecture notes, case studies and practical applications as well as access to regular onlinewebinars, delivered directly from London. In addition, faculties at your local support centre is alsoavailable to provide local support and assistance to students.
