A Message From the G.M.Dear Member,
As we complete our fiscal year, the management staff would like to say thank you for supporting the Club for what turned out to be a very successful year.
Your support has been fantastic. At this point, we have to depend on you to get us through these difficult times. We are encouraged that UofL’s new administration recognizes the importance of the Club and pledges to help direct business to the club.
We ask that you continuously communicate your wants and needs to Linda Johnson. Survey information is always reviewed and from the results, programs are presented. What we don’t understand is why there are times that these programs are offered and very few members sign up for the event. We question the event date and time, if the pricing is favorable, or did we miss the concept that you were looking for. Our goal is to offer you special events that will exceed your expectations. We will be sending out a survey sometime in the later part of July. It will be so helpful if you take the time to fill it out and return it so we have a greater understanding of what you want.
Club membership was stable this past year which is a positive. However, next year at this time we would like to report that stability has turned into growth. Again we need your help! You are the ambassadors that provide us with the most successful prospects for new members. Please ask your U of L friends and family to join the University Club. Sponsor your business associates who have social needs or that are supporting the University in some way. One of our keys to success has been managing the Club operations as efficiently as possible. When we reopen from our July shutdown, our daily menu and specials will still be there for you to order until 2:00 p.m., but the daily buffet will start closing down at 1:30 p.m. instead of 2:00 p.m. If you have a need for us to keep the buffet open later, please call and let us know.
Please note that we will recognize July and August Birthdays together on August 19th. We really would like to start a family night at the Club and will be asking some questions regarding your interests. Many of you may know that we employ a very diverse workforce. An idea came forward about scheduling a Cuban Night in September. Some of our employees who are Cuban immigrants would love to present some home cooking for you. We have asked them to invite some family and friends to perform music. The only thing that may be missing that evening is someone rolling cigars out in the courtyard :) Watch for upcoming details in the September newsletter.
In closing, we would like to remind you that we are looking into naming some of our rooms throughout the facility. For donors, please consider leaving your legacy and generosity to live on within the University Club. Be safe and stay healthy. Enjoy the summer.
Best Regards,Bill

WELCOMENew Members
Club management and staff would like to recognize one of the best friends we could ever have. That is George Howe.
George is a 47- year employee of the University of Louisville and a Found-ing Member of the University Club. Not only is he an Ambassador to the
Club, George is always there to assist us in any way he can. Most recently, he made a lunch delivery when the Club’s truck was being repaired.
Sometimes we tease George; but, there is a reason why his name rests over the George J. Howe Red Barn. He is truly a great person. Thank you for all your help, Mr. Howe!
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTHMarsha Cain is our Employee of the Month. Marsha is our daily buffet attendant. She is very hard working and friendly to coworkers and Members. In her free time she enjoys gardening. Thank you, Marsha!
