Creating an Effective Strategy When Credentialing APPs and AHPs
The steady increase in the number of mid-level practitioners in healthcare
requires MSPs to be prepared and strategic in how they are managed in your
organization. Whether you’re a new member of the Medical Staff Services team
or an experienced MSP, it’s no surprise that credentialing and granting privileges
to some APPs and AHPs is particularly challenging. This session will introduce a
new method for identifying and tracking these practitioners within your
institution as well as learning about their many verification sources. Let’s
compare practices!!
Kathy Matzka, CPMSM, CPCS

Applying Critical Thinking Skills to Avoid Confirmation Bias in Credentialing
Decisions
Confirmation bias should be avoided in the credentialing and privileging processes
because it can lead to poor decisions based on debatable information. One way to
avoid confirmation bias is to apply critical thinking skills in credentialing and
privileging decisions. Exercises and case studies will be utilized to help participants
understand how to make good decisions.
