Example:Non-contact level measurement asa basic component of differentoperating modes as a sensor for:� Straight pumping tasks.� Precise dosing relating to plant
requirements or due to officialrequirements.
� Stroke counting device.
� Evaluation of stroke countingand simultaneous monitoringof the filling, professionallycombined in the MDS systemto determine the true deliveryrate.
� Pulsation damper (for dampingwater hammers in the case ofnon-viscous media).
� Drive units in explosion- orsound-proof design.
� Special designs of electriccontrol, e.g. in compliance withUS or Canadian standards- insound- or explosion-proofdesign.
LUBRICANT DOSING DEVICEThe length of the feed pipe andthe friction resistance of the me-dium at the tube wall affect therequired pumping pressure whichthe sludge pump has to deliver. Incase of very dry sludges, the pres-
sure can be reduced by approx.20% by adding a thin water film atthe beginning of the pipeline thusproviding a lubricant between tubewall and sludge. �
SEQUENCE VALVE CONTROLThe hydraulically activatedsequence valves ensure an optimal sludge distribution even in case of arrival points withdifferent distances.Tried-and-proven poppet valvesthat are found in all control valvehousings and which offer cycletimes of 5 seconds, are used forthe switching operation. �
WAY-SWITCH SYSTEMModern sewage treatment plantsoften have to coordinate verydifferent sludge flows. Theillustrated three-way switchesallow, for example, the sludgepump to either feed a silo, adownstream dryer or directly the incineration facility. �
REJECT SEPARATORIn case of delivered foreign sludge,there is a risk of hidden coarsematerial. That’s why the deliverystarts with a SCHWING Rock valvesludge pump immediately followedby a SCHWING reject separator.As shown in the illustration, anycoarse material larger than themesh width of the screeningbasket is retained and the down-stream units thus protected. �
