• One of the most popular forms of photography with a broad genre.

• Extreme close-ups of plants, insects and other small items with lots of detail.

• Exploring subjects that may be invisible to the naked eye.

• A successful macro shot depends on the lighting, But with natural sunlight, you cant go wrong.

We are most likely to see these types of

images in magazines or perhaps on an advert.

TV channels such as National Geographic would use a macro

moving image for effect.

Macrography can also be seen online in blogs and on social

media.

This photo was taken by a very talented

photographer called Sharon Johnstone.

Quite often, her nature shots are taken in the spur-of-the-moment.

She uses ‘macro’ lenses, flashes and even special effects such as coloured

gel background to capture dew looking like jelled orbs.

The 'macro' photographs of dew on dandelions are captured by photographer Sharon Johnson

'I might find the perfect dew drop on a blade of grass and get the shot straight away,' she said.

Macro Photographer David Gilliver started creating the miniature dioramas over 10 years ago during his Fine Art Photography degree at

the Glasgow School of Art. "Miniature figurines have always fascinated me and I take a lot of enjoyment from thinking up new ideas about how I can use them next. I always joke with people, saying that I

obtained my degree by playing with toys, which on the face of it, is difficult to argue against."
