Jump Rope for Heart

Maclean Public School is participating in Jump Rope for Heart again this year. Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraising and physical activity program based around skipping. It teaches school aged children how to keep fit and healthy, all while having fun and raising vital funds for heart disease research and education. The Ministers for Fundraising are busy supporting this initiative by conducting skipping activities at lunchtime for students. There will be a Jump Off day on September 26 at school, where all classes will move through a rotation of skipping activities and students will be given the opportunity to perform skipping routines. It is not too late to get fundraising, information on how students can get involved fundraising is on the flyer accompanying the newsletter.

Yamba Markets The P&C have a stall at the Yamba Markets this Sunday, please drop by and purchase a tasty treat or two to support the fundraising initiatives for our school. You can also purchase a raffle ticket and perhaps book a table for the upcoming trivia night.

Grandparents and Friends Day NSW Grandparents Day celebrates the role grandparents and older people play in our society - both the things they have done, and the things they keep doing. Maclean Public School will celebrate National Grandparents and Friends Day on Friday October 25. We will open our classrooms from 10:15am – 11:15am, after which a morning tea will be provided in the library until 11:45am. This will be followed by a whole school assembly. If you are, or know of a grandparent that would like to speak at our assembly please contact the school.

Maths is for everyone! Sometimes students think that because they are not the fastest at solving maths problems they are not good at maths. This is not the case, at Maclean Public School teachers have been working with students to create a mindset that we are all capable of learning maths and that it is important to have a depth of understanding. Jo Boaler is a professor of mathematics at Stanford University and has some great tips for parents to promote a love of maths.
