FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the form that youmust fill out if you want any financial aid for college. Seniors applying for financial aid for the 2019-20 school year, may startapplying October 1, 2018, using their 2017 tax return information. Before you can access the application, you will need a FSAID. Please go to fafsa.ed.gov and click on “FSA ID” to get started. This is an ID and password that you will need to rememberas long as you are a college student, because you and your parents will have to fill out a FAFSA every year. Therefore, putyour ID/Password in a safe place - your tax packet is the perfect place! Once you have your ID and password, you are able to getstarted filling out the FAFSA Important Info Be scheduling those college visits! Get on campus and see what they haveto offer. Before you leave though, pick up a college visit day form from Mrs. Boling in the high school office so that it doesnot count against you. Once you apply to the college(s) of your choice, stop by the counseling office and request your transcriptsto be sent. Once you receive your letter of acceptance, let us know and we will get your name on the senior board! Any senior student who has a medical, physical, educational, or mentaldisability may be eligible for services and/or financial assistance for post-secondary training or employment throughVocational Rehabilitation. This can include college tuition. For information on applying to this agency, please contact Ms. Lisa Skeltonin the Career Center, room 170C (next to the elevator). Notes From the Nurse In an effort to keep our students and staff healthy and ready to learn, Iwould like to take this time to review Macon Middle and High School’s policy for school attendance and illness. Manyillnesses are treated at home with comfort measures, fluids and rest. Some are more serious, requiring a visit to a primary careprovider. In either case, students should be recovered before coming back to school. This will help prevent spreading theillness as well as ensure that your child is feeling well enough to learn and participate in the classroom settings. The following is found on page 13 of the student handbook: IV. Contagious Illness Management -Children with contagious illness should not be brought to school. Students shouldnot come to school if during the previous 24 hours they exhibit any of the following symptoms: -A temperature of 100 degrees or greater -Vomiting or diarrhea -An unusual or unexplained rash, unrelenting and itchy -Persistent cough -Told by a doctor they are still contagious -Children with chickenpox are to remain at home a minimum of six (6) daysafter the first appearance of the rash. They may return to school when all lesions are crusted over. It is also preferred that students be fever free without the assistance ofmedication for 24 hours. This is also a good time to review hand washing, covering coughs, rest and nutrition practices withyour child and family. Please notify the school office if your child will beabsent due to illness.
