Materials: Cascade Yarns® Luminosa 52% Viscose / 44% Baby Alpaca / 4% Wool 100 g (3.5 oz) / 240 yds (220 m) 1 skein in color #10 (Blue Topaz) US 7 (4.5 mm)/16" circular needle US 9 (5.5 mm)/16" circular needle or size to obtain gauge and set of DPN nee-dles Stitch Markers Yarn Needle Gauge: 19 sts x 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette Stitch on larger needles after blocking.

Abbreviations: BO = Bind Off CO = Cast On K = Knit M = Marker PM = Place Marker P = Purl PSSO = Pass Slipped Stitch Over Rnd(s) = Round(s) St(s) = Stitch(es) K2tog = Knit 2 stitches together SSK = Slip 1 stitch, slip 1 stich, K 2 stitches together YO = Yarn Over SKP = Slip 1 st as to knit, knit next 2 sts together, pass slipped st over Hat: With smaller needle, CO 90 sts. Being careful not to twist your sts, join in the rnd. PM. Work in *[K1, P1] Rib pattern until brim measures 1½". Change to larger needles and knit 7 rnds. Begin Diamond Lace Pattern: Rnd 1: K3, *[K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K5]; repeat from * to last 7 sts, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K2. Rnd 2: K all sts.

Rnd 5: K1, *[K2tog, YO, K5, YO, SSK, K1]; repeat from * to last 9 sts, K2tog, YO, K5, YO, SSK. Rnd 6: K all sts. Rnd 7: K2tog, *[YO, K7, YO, SKP]; repeat from * to last 8 sts, YO, K7, YO, slip 1 st as to knit, remove M, slip 1st st on left needle to right needle, PSSO, slip remaining st back to left needle and replace M. Crown Shaping (change to DPNs when needed): Set Up Rnd: [K10, PM] 9 times (using end of rnd M for last repeat). Rnd 1: [Knit to 2 sts before M, k2tog] 9 times. Rnd 2: Knit. Repeat Rnds 1 and 2 until 5 sts remain between M ending with a completed Rnd 2, 45 sts remain. Repeat Rnd 1 only (decrease every rnd) until 2 sts remain between M’s. [K2tog]; 9 times removing all M’s. (9 sts remain). Finishing: Break yarn, leaving a 6" tail. With tail threaded on tapestry needle, draw tail through remaining sts and pull to close. Fasten off on wrong side. Weave in all tails and block as desired.
