•Search engines. E.g. terms such as “accredit* AND online courses”

•Exploration of online learning providers (HE and organisational)

• Investigating Online, Blended and Distance Learning watchdogs and associations

•Global scope

Verification

•Only those that provide official accreditation services

•Legitimate institutions (i.e. risk of accreditation mills in US)

Timescales and Costs of Accreditation

Courses

Materials online do not specify exact time scales

• ALAP (Diploma Level) = £1050 per course per annum

• NCFE = confusing combination of cost based on becoming an

‘approved member’, an annual license, registration, advisory

visit costs and an accreditation fee of (£550) plus £11 for

registered course certification per candidate…! Per annum.

• ODLQC | 1-3 months | Costs £2350 - £2500 per 3 years

• BAC | 4 months | £4280-£7360 annually
