"Not A Fan"In our new sermon series; "Not A Fan,"we will be on a pathto "define the relationship" with Jesus; The setting for thisseries is at the height of Jesus' ministry on Earth. He has.fed the 5,000 families with a little boy's lunch. The crowd'tries to force Jesusto be king. Jesus retreats to the otherside of the lake and later comes back walking on the wa~erduring a storm and saves the Apostles. 'Jesus walks on ttle·water with Peter,and then He shows up teaching in asynagogue in Capernaum.

The crowd shows back.up and Jesus wants them to "define'the relationshipt In John 6:26, Jesus tells them, "I tellyou the truth, you are looking for rile, not because you sawmiraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had,your fill." You see; Jesus is not interested in having "fans."Jesus is interested in having "followers.rA "fan" is definedas "an enthusiastic admirer, while a "follower" is defined as"one who accepts and adheres to the teachings of another."

In Luke 9: 23, the commitment needed to be a "follower"of Jesus is clarified, a "follower" is one who is willing to"deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me[Jesus]."

In John 6:66 we read that "From this time many of Hisdisciples turned back and no longer followed Him." It's timewe "define the relationship." Are we "fans" or "followers?"
