Arkadin Lotus Notes Add-on Massive deployment guide

Solution: Send an email with a button to automatically install the Add-on It is possible to send a Lotus Notes email with a button whose click event allows opening the installation page of the Arkadin Lotus Notes toolbar.

Here are the detailed steps of such an email creation in Lotus Notes 8: Please make sure that you chose “Rich text Format”: File > Security > User Security > Mail > Internet-Style Mail Options > Locations…

1. Open new Email

2. Write the message body: Please look at the example below:

3. Attach toolbar files:

Take the zip file (ConferenceToolbarAddOn.zip) that you have been provided and unzip the file. Here is a description of the files you have to attach:

- ConferenceToolbarAddOn.nsf: database which includes all add-on libraries with installation process

- toolbar.ini: initial account settings configuration. � Make sure that the toolbar.ini file doesn’t contain credentials (access codes).

The following values must be specified (don’t leave blanks and do not forget dashes in new value) CONFREF=Enter-Your-Web-Login MODPIN=Enter-Your-Moderator-Pin PARTPIN=Enter-Your-Participant-Pin

- trans.xml: translations file including all languages. It is not recommended to edit it.

- default.dil: this file is not mandatory but contains the list of international access numbers. You can also rename the XML file (if provided by your Account Manager) containing the access numbers to default.dil

4. Insert the button: Insert the hotspot button (Create > Hotspot > Button) while the mouse cursor is inside the memo body.

In the newly opened window, enter the button label name. it is actually the text on the button. Then close this window.

Now it’s time to describe the behavior of the button: In the lower part, copy and paste the lines below as shown in the screenshot: lname:=@AttachmentNames;

Note 1: The 2 first lines aim at copying the attached files in the configuration directory of Lotus Notes. The 3rd line aims at opening the nsf database file in Lotus Notes. Note 2: You can change:

- The destination directory by replacing @LeftBack(@ConfigFile;"notes.ini") by your destination directory.

- And/or the nsf filename in the 3rd line in the case where the attached nsf file is not named ConferenceToolbarAddOn.nsf.

5. Send the email:

You can now send the email to your users. While clicking on the button, your users will open the Addon installation page in Lotus Notes. (see below).
