Nutrition Keeping physically active
is one of the best things we can do for our health and it doesn’t have to cost us anything.
The City of Los Fresnos is currently offering a variety of free exercise classes to the community Monday thru Friday. Each class is lead by a Certified Fitness Instructor. Classes include walking/running, Aqua Aerobic, Cardio Kickboxing, Body Sculpting, Cardio + Abs and Fitness Blender.
If a class setting isn’t for you there are many other ways to keep active at little to no cost. Going out for a walk, following along to an exercise video or an accredited online workout program are a few ways to keep physically active.
According to the American Heart Association to improve overall cardiovascular health, it is suggested to do a minimum of 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise. Thirty minutes a day, five times a week is an easy goal to remember.
We all know that keeping physically active benefits the body and a sedentary lifestyle does the opposite. The key to living a healthy lifestyle is a combination of both physical activity and healthy eating. Tips to healthy eating
Healthy eating takes time, preparation, and practice and practice makes perfect so don’t give up, your families health depends on it.
Create a menu, plan 1-2 weeks’ worth of healthy meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Sit down and create a menu of your family’s heart-healthy favorites. Update your list as you come across new recipe ideas.
Create your menu on the weekend. Start with tip one, ask your family what they’d like to eat during the week. If the recommendation isn’t a healthy one find creative ways of modifying it to a healthier version of the foods they’d like to have. When shopping for your groceries stick to the list. THEY JUST GOT A PERMIT TO PUMP WASTE INTO THE RIVER.
OR HADN’T YOU HEARD?When government officials make decisions, they must let their citizens know. That’s why the state requires them to publish their actions through public notices in newspapers.
But some politicians would prefer to bury public notices on little seen, rarely visited government websites – away from public scrutiny!
If it is not in the newspaper, you won’t know about it.
