In line with our dedication to customer satisfaction in the areas of pre/post-sale service, we at Armes have certified our own QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM based on UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 standards. Recently, we have also certified our own ENVIRONMENTAL HANDLING SYSTEM based on UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 standards. Both systems have been attested by the Certification Organisation “DET NORSKE VERITAS”.

System GL8 consists of a modular set of components designed and manufactured for the creation of long-span mezzanine floors, in which the generous distance between columns means that floor space remains fully practicable.Competitors’ products in GL8’s market segment are all too often made with heavy-duty fabricated structures that require a complex design phase, prolonged and inconvenient

in-situ erection procedures, and can only be given their final protective coat at the work-site, resulting in a reduced level of finish quality. When using solutions of this type, the structure tends to be inflexible, since modifications after initial erection are complex and expensive and the original system cannot be readily adapted to serve altered requirements.On the contrary, GL8 is a standardized and codified system that is both modular and

extremely versatile. Since all the components are appropriately calculated, the design stage, which can be based on a series of known and verified parameters, is both rapid and straightforward.Armes was one of the first companies in the world (first in Italy) to develop a system for long-span mezzanine floors.The GL8 mezzanine is accompanied from the outset by comprehensive design

documentation, which is a fundamental part of the system, especially when the structure is designed for pedestrian access as well as storage of material, in which case it must be furnished with a specific loading report. This is particularly important since apart from being employed in warehouse applications, GL8 is frequently used for the creation of offices, exhibition stands, maintenance catwalks and a series of other applications.

Globally and in each individual component, the GL8 system has been optimized to obtain the highest possible performance with the smallest possible amount of material, thus maximizing savings in terms of weight and cost.Weight savings are particularly significant when compared to conventional fabricated steel structures. This is a result of the optimization of each component in the GL8 system starting from the design stage, so that the assembly phase, which is performed on site with the

minimum fuss, is straightforward, rapid and easy to plan.Since joints are made exclusively with nuts and bolts, all the components reach the site ready for assembly so that they can be finished in the Armes factory to the highest technological standards. If the structure requires modification at a later date, all the parts utilized in the initial layout can be re-used in all revised versions.One of the hallmark features of the GL8 system is its reduced number of components, all of which

are standardized and compatible with warehousing procedures.The central component of the system is the capital, which is available in different versions to fit uprights in accordance with their position in the structure; the capital is designed to allow easy and quick assembly between beams and uprights; the 8-fold sigma section beam, an essential component when long spans are required, is available in a range of different dimensions and thicknesses and is utilized both as main and as

secondary beam, with the use of brackets, spacers and other accessories.Different heights (250 and 300 mm), several thicknesses (from 2 to 4 mm) and the use of proper steels enable the beams to reach particularly significative performances.The GL8 mezzanine floor, which is a fully self-loading structure, is designed and built to comply with static and dynamic loading requirements that take into account risk factors, including seismic events.

The GL8 system is equipped with a range of components that ensure it can be utilized in all types of surroundings and for numerous different applications.The access stairways, in single or double flight versions with or without landing, are fully in line with the requirements of the relevant legislation, which defines different criteria according to whether or not the structure is designed for public access.

The railing, which comply with the most stringent safety standards, is constituted of uprights, handrail and other components.There are various types of gate available, hinged with one or two doors, sliding, and overhead safety types, thus providing a comprehensive response to all types of access requirements to the various levels for goods loading, also using lift trucks.

The main decking types are:• galvanized steel strips with closed anti-slip surface;• galvanized perforated steel strips, for use when the passage of air and light is required;• wooden panels (chipboard or MDF) with corrugated sheet iron;• wooden panels (chipboard or MDF)

The first two types of decking are more suitable for manual goods handling, while the latter two (which can have different structural characteristics) are suitable for wheeled traffic and, with suitable coverings, can be utilized for offices, exhibition stands and structures with elevated aesthetic requirements.All Armes decking systems are codified and supplied with the relative loading values.
