London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. It is a global, city with

strenghts in the arts, commerce, fashion, tourism, transport, finance, ecc.

For what concerns tourism, London is full of landmarks all to visit.

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

Let's start in Buckingam Palace.Buckingam Palace is the royal residence of the Queen and it is located in the City of Westminster. Originally, the palace was knows with the name of Buckingam House and it was built for the Ducke of Buckingam in 1705. Then, George III

acquired the palace as a private residence of Queen Charlotte and from that moment, the palace was known as

"The Queen's House". It's a very big palace, it has 600 rooms and the most important are the Music Room, the Blue and

the White Drawing Rooms and there is also a Picture Gallery and leading from this gallery, there are the Green Drawing

Room and the Throne Room.

LONDON EYE

Then, let's see another beautiful landmark of London, which is London Eye.

London Eye is a panoramic wheel built in 1999 and it became the most attractive landmark of the United Kingdom. It is 135 meters tall and it is situated on the banks of the river Thames. It is visited by over 3.5 million people annually.

HYDE PARK

If you want go outside for a walk with your friends or by yourselves, Hyde Park is the ideal place to do that. Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in the centre of London and it's one of the royal parks for its Speaker's Corner. The park is divided in two parts from the Serpentine Lake it

has become the home to numerous events.

BIG BENother famous landmark in

London is the Big Ben.The Big Ben is a great clock tower and it is 96 meters tall and it is built in gothic style. It's peculiar for its bell that rings every fifteen minutes.

PICCADILLY CIRCUS

Piccadilly Circus is another beautiful and famous square in London and it is located in the City of

Westminster. It was built in 1819 to connect Regent Street to Piccadilly (an important street for the shopping). Its position is very important because it is in the heart of the West End area

and it is near some important places like theatres of Shaftesbury Avenue or roads like

Coventry Street and it is full of shops.

TOWER BRIDGE

Tower Bridge is the one of the most important symbols of the Britain. Its towers, with the

peaks and the walkways support the mechanism that lift the bridge during the

transition of the boats. This bridge houses "The Tower Bridge Exhibition" that is a museum that

tells its story through interactive route. The covered walkway is open to the people and it offers a magnificent view of the river Thames.

TRAFALGAR SQUARE

Trafalgar Square is a London's square dedicated to the memory of the Battle of Trafalgar. In the square is located the famous Nelson's Column

and in winter there is a big Christimas Tree. The obelisk of the square represents a dragon's eye

that, according to the legend, had a fight against Edward VII of England. Trafalgar Square houses the famous National Gallery and in the south of the square there is the Admiralty Arch

that links directly with Buckingam Palace.
