Aurangabad is a city of great historic value. It was founded in 1610 A.D. • Founded by- Malik Ambar• Old Name- Kharki

In 1653 when Prince Aurangzeb was appointed the viceroy of the Deccan for the second time, he made Kharki his capital and called it Aurangabad.

Ellora is a World Heritage Site.

It is locally known as Verul Leni are also a group of caves located at a distance of 30 km from the city of Aurangabad.

Ellora is also world famous for the largest single

monolithic excavation in the world, the huge Kailasa temple present in the Cave 16.

Aurangabad Caves are situated at a distance of 5 km from city, into the hills.

Built during- 2nd-6th Century.

BIBI KA MAQBARA

Bibi ka Maqbara was

built in 1660 by Prince Azam Shah son of Emperor

Aurangzeb as a loving tribute to his mother.

Cost of Construction: Rs. 6,68,203

This monument is

also called the Dakkhani Taj.

Panchakki is a 17th century water mill situated at a distance of 1 km from the city.

Under Ground Water Channel –

Traverses more than 8 km .

The channel finishes in a interesting 'artificial' waterfall that powers the Flour mill.

The beauty of the mosque housed in the inner enclosure is enhanced by a series of 'dancing' water fountains.

By Air : Aurangabad airport is 10 km east of the city and is connected

by daily flights to Mumbai and Delhi via Udaipur and Jaipur.

By Train : Aurangabad is not located on the main route but some trains

do stop here .However, Manmad, 113km northwest of Aurangabad is the

Closest junction for major trains from across the country.

By Road : State Roadways buses and private bus companies connect Aurangabad from Pune (5 hours), Nashik (5 hours) ,Indore. Overnight

luxury buses connect Aurangabad from Mumbai (12 hours) via Pune or

Manmad.
