Happy Chinese New Year! Which also known
as Spring Festival in China itself. Really don’t
know what to share about this Chinese New
Year thingy. Not familiar indeed, ha! All I
know, when I spent last Lunar New Year in
Chengdu, China, there’s no such thing like
Barongsai, Liong, or any kind of celebra-
tion there, really let me down, because I’ve
planned to have an unforgettable experience
in lunar home town, but when it ended, 15
days exactly after the day, there was a lan-
tern festival. A moment when a whole city
covered by yellow-reddish light, pretty, shin-
ny, and of course amazing experience at
last.
Maybe you don’t start this year with a
good story, but well, who cares, when you
end things with some kind bright, stunning,
Le ershinny, glowing stuff?! It’s not about how you
start it, but how you end things.
Chin up and cheers,

People used to talk about her as a daughter of the famous jazz singer and beautiful ac-tress, Indra Lesmana and Sophia Latjuba. Nowadays she be known as herself, Eva Celia, a young talented actress, with her silvery voice and marvelous act. She came to local in a cloudy Saturday noon, wearing a casual tees mixed with skinny jeans and a bold boots. Her pretty face obviously seen through her smile and gentle voice even the thick glasses cover her eyes.

In traditional Chinese, black, red, qing, white and yellow are viewed as
standard colors. These colors correspond to the five elements of water, fire,
wood, metal and earth. Red, corresponding with fire, symbolizes good
fortune and joy. The red color of the packet symbolizes good luck. Red is
strictly forbidden at funerals as it is a traditionally symbolic color of happi-
ness. Then why there’s proverb: when in doubt, wear red!

Orca

F E A T U R E DB R A N D
WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME, ORCA? WHO IS SHE?Orca is the name of the big animal in
the sea, which is rare to see. Although
they consist in a small number, still,
they can survive. We want that our
brand is like Orca, still developing and
make some innovation and not to give
up although we don’t produce in a big
scale. We hope that Orca can be suc-
cess in Fashion industry.
WHAT’S INSPIRE YOU?Orca’s idea comes from my own
thought. Since I love wearing outwear
especially the monochrome color be-
cause outwear is easy to combine with.
That’s why I love to design outwear-
ing clothes, so everybody can wear it
for a long term. Initially, the idea of
designing the clothes is come from the
question in my mind which said “Why
I only design outwearing for myself
instead of others?” so that, everybody
also can wear it too.
IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH OTHERS, WHO WOULD IT BE?I wanna collaborated with the ONLY
I local brand, because I think they are
unique.
WHO DO YOU FIND PERFECT WEARING ORCA?Everybody who loves wearing out-
wear, especially with the monochrome
colors.
WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING THINGS WHILE DESIGNING
OUTERWEAR?I love to find various bizarre outwear
which has a multifunction and multi
way to combine with. A cloth can be
wear with three ways that show a dif-
ferent style. It is a big challenge for me
to design such clothes.
WHAT IS THE HARDEST ONE?The hardest part is when I choose the
concept for It’s Orca because to deter-
mine the concept is the most impor-
tant thing to make a new collection.
WHAT IS THE MAIN MATERIAL FOR ORCA?Stiff fabric. Even tough the materials
are stiff and thick we can still make it
comfortable. Mostly, the color of our
design is monochrome.

easy color to combine with other
colors. What is so special about mon-

the day and night.

long as you can wear it comfortably.
For our ready to wear collections,
mostly I design for daily outfit.
IN TERMS OF THE DESIGN, IS THERE ANY CERTAIN CON-CEPT OR STYLE THAT IT’S ORCA MAINTAIN THROUGHOUT ALL THE COLLECTIONS? We find some difficulties in deter-
mine the concept, fortunately I de-
cide to focus on designing the ready
to wear outfit with monochrome
color but still looks fabulous. Some of
our designs are all size so it can be use
for the skinny or the plump women.
WHAT MUSIC THAT YOU FIND SO INSPIRING FOR IT’S ORCA?Our inspiring music is Synthpop.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE IT’S ORCA? Maxi outwear, most people love it since the first
and it still be their favorite until now.
DESCRIBE US, HOW THE PERFECT CLOTHES WOULD BE!The perfect cloth is the cloth that shows the
true identity of someone. Each individual has
their own style as long as it keeps them comfort
it will looks good on them.
THE MOST DESIRING BRAND ABROAD WOULD BE…I hope that Orca can be like TOSAVICA as the
local brand. I have a dream that i can make a
“concept store” for the local brands. The rea-
son why, because TOSAVICA is one of the big
local brand and still exist until now.
THE BEST MOVIE WARDROBE IS…The best movie wadrobe is The Great

Passo

F E A T U R E DB R A N D
WHAT DOES PASSO MEAN?Passo is a Spanish word, means
“Step”. “Step” is about walking, run-
ning, moving. So to us it relates to
moving forward in line with our vi-
sion, becomes better, creating better
shoes with better design and better
quality, one step at a time.
HOW DID YOU START PASSO?It started from some casual talk about
shoes between friends. We all have
interest in good shoes, and we talk
about it occasionally. Then we real-
ize that each of us has mutual back-
ground to start our own brand. Omar
has experiences in running a clothing
line, Rizky comes from a family that
has been making shoes for so many
years, Ryan is passionate about shoes
and design. So we collaborated to
make some samples first to see how
it went. Turned out it went well, our
friends gave positive response about
our shoes. So we decided to develop
our own brand and products further
and then there it is, PASSO.
IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH OTHERS, WHO WOULD IT BE? We have so many kind of people or
brand we would like to collaborate
with. It would be very awesome for
us is that if we could collaborate with
artist, like a painter, or a sculptor.
Their heads are full of daring imagi-
nation, and we really want to dive into
them and bring it out to our shoes.
That would be crazy and super fun.
If we talk about shoe brands then it
would be such as Grenson, Del Toro,
Church’s, Mark McNairy, Cole Haan.
Thom Browne would also be great.
Oh, and of course all of those The
Sartorialist gentlemen, we would love
to make each of them a pair of our
shoes.
WHO DO YOU FIND PERFECT WEARING PASSO SHOES?Nick Wooster.
WHAT’S THE MOST EXCITING WHILE DESIGNING SHOES?It would be combining references or
inspiration from everything around
us, or even from other brands, then
translating all of those into our own
identity. That’s exciting and challeng-
ing at the same time.

ARTICLEFeatured Brand
MAGAZINEJanuary 2014
WHAT IS THE HARDEST ONE?Assuring all pair of shoes that we
make deliver the same quality as
we expect, starting from material
selection, production, up to finish-
ing touch and quality control. All of
these processes require focus and at-
tention to details. Keeping up all the
energy for this would be the hardest
one.
WHAT’S THE MAIN MATERIAL FOR PASSO?What’s the main material for Passo?
We don’t want to limit ourselves to
certain material. We want to explore
many possibilities in shoe design.
For our current line-up, varieties of
leather are our main material. For
our next line-up, it could be a combi-
nation between leather and tradition-
al fabrics, such as batik for example.
But one thing for sure, all materials
that we use should be high quality
materials.
WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT COLORS?Colors could add another layer of
character onto a pair of shoes. A
pair of wingtip can also be casual or
playful when it uses colorful sole. We
can combine two elements that seem
contradictive into one cool design.
This kind of exploration is something
exciting. Colors provide us the explo-
ration.
WHERE’S THE BEST PLACE FOR WEAR-ING PASSO? From strolling down the city, sitting and sipping
coffee in your favorite café while enjoying your
breakfast, meeting with colleagues in your of-
fice, dealing with business partners while hav-
ing dinner, or go to a party later at night, you
can wear PASSO almost anywhere on almost
any occasion.
IN TERMS OF THE DESIGN, IS THERE ANY CERTAIN CONCEPT OR STYLE THAT PASSO MAINTAIN THROUGHOUT ALL THE COLLECTIONS?A combination between classic shoe-making
that puts high quality on top with fresh and
modern design. That is our bottom line con-
cept for our brand. But we also acknowledge
that design will always be evolving and revolv-
ing, so we’ll adapt along the way too. vit will
looks good on them.
WHAT MUSIC THAT YOU FIND SO IN-SPIRING FOR PASSO?Frank Ocean, Coldplay, Jay Z, The Strokes,
Daft Punk.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PASSO PAIR OF SHOES? We share equal love to all of our shoes.
DESCRIBE US, HOW THE PER-FECT SHOES WOULD BE! Shoes that when you see them, you
can picture right away where to wear
them, what to wear with them, when
to wear them, while keep thinking,
“I would look so damn good in those
shoes”. Then when you try them, you
whisper to yourself “This is also damn
comfortable!”.
WHAT MAKES PASSO DIFFER-ENT FROM OTHERS?We like to play with colors, so we can
be very playful about our shoes, but
at the same time still manage to give
classic ambience too. We maintain
high quality standards in our material
selection and production process, but
also willing to explore new things in
the design. These mixes of elements
in one package are something that can
differentiate PASSO from others.
THE MOST DESIRING SHOE LINE ABROAD WOULD BE… Church’s, Grenson, Del Toro.
THE BEST SHOES OF A CAR-TOON CHARACTER IS…Puss in Boots, definitely. Those fine
leather boots are irresistible.
“ SHOES THAT WHEN YOU SEE
THEM, YOU CAN PICTURE RIGHT
AWAY WHERE TO WEAR THEM,
WHAT TO WEAR WITH THEM,
WHEN TO WEAR THEM, WHILE KEEP
THINKING, “I WOULD LOOK SO
DAMN GOOD IN THOSE SHOES. “
