Health law is a complex and rapidly changing field, encompassing laws that regulate the health care industry, the public’s health, and the delivery and financing of health care services. It also
includes more general laws that can impact health and health care, such as corporate and tax law, environmental law, tort law, bioethics and law, constitutional law, family law, juvenile and elder law, administrative law, intellectual property law, social welfare law and international law.
From understanding the federal laws governing health care, to patients’ rights, to ensuring health information privacy, to prevention and control of communicable diseases, to approval of new drugs and devices, attorneys must be prepared to address cutting-edge legal, ethical and policy issues across the field of health law.
With a top 10 nationally ranked health law program, Georgia State University College of Law, through its Center for Law, Health & Society, offers educational and research programs to meet these contemporary health law challenges.
