VOCABULARY

Pick 16 hobbies as a class to use for the competition. With your class, debate which hobbies are better than others until you finally choose a winner.

Present progressive tense is used to describe what is happening right now in the moment. It follows a simple structure: Be verb + Verb + ing

I am running a marathon. He is watching the news. The boys are playing soccer.

For this exercise, change all underlined verbs to the present progressive tense. Then, watch a soccer video and practice present progressive by calling the match. 1. Messi played very well, but his teammates played poorly.

2. Ronaldo defended his opponent.

3. The coach won’t stop yelling, but we ran as fast as we can!

4. No matter how hard they try, they just didn’t score enough.

5. She tackled Alex Morgan? That’s a red card!

6. Megan Rapinoe stole the ball. Will she score?

7. They kicked the ball around as if they have never played soccer before.

8. Real Madrid and Barcelona tried to score, but neither of them have been successful.

9. USA fouled everyone. They need to be careful.
