Christ in this service. Please sign the register pads located at the

end of each pew so we can get an accurate record of attendance. If

you are a first time visitor, we are so grateful to have you with us.

MUSICAL CALL TO WORSHIP

“Come With Joyful Singing” by Joseph Martin

Chancel Choir

* OPENING HYMN No. 154 vs. 1, 2, 4, 6 (UMH)

“All Hail the Power of Jesus Name”

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH No. 885 (UMH) Pastor: Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare:

All: We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power, and love, whose mercy is over all his works, and whose will is ever directed to his children's good. We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man, the gift of the Father's unfailing grace, the ground of our hope, and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death. We believe in the Holy Spirit as the divine presence in our lives, whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance of the truth of Christ, and find strength and help in time of need. We believe that this faith should manifest itself in the service of love as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord, to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy

kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

PROCLAMATION & RESPONSE

* SCRIPTURE READINGS Colossians 4: 3-4 (NIV) 3And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

Matthew 3: 13-17 (NIV) 13Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Worship-on-the-Go Bags - Missing Oak Ridge UMC on Sunday because

of summer travel? Try one of our "Worship-on-the-Go" bags. While it

can't replace the wonderful community worship we experience, Worship-

on-the-Go bags will help you remain rooted in God's presence wherever

you go! “Worship on the Go” bags are for church families to use at home

or while traveling. Each piece inside the bag helps households deepen

spirituality and practice their faith. The materials are also a reminder that

even when families are outside the walls of the church, they are still

members of the family of God. The bag includes prayers, discussion

prompts, activities and a Flat Jesus including the prompt to take pictures

and tag to the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church Facebook page. Bags

are available at the welcome stations.

Need a Bible? - Bibles are available in the lobbies free for the taking. Please, if you do not have a Bible, you are encouraged to take one. It is God’s life-changing love letter to you and to the entire world.

We give thanks!

To my Oak Ridge Family,

Thank you for sharing your families with me. I am so honored and blessed

to know each of you. Thank you for inspiring me to serve and to

remember that every action is an opportunity to share Christ love with

someone I encounter. I’ve made so many wonderful friends while working

here at Oak Ridge UMC. Thank you for being such a big part of my own

faith journey. The memories I’ve made will always be held close to my

heart. Peace and blessings to each of you.

Love,

Tracey Ring

Home Repair Ministry

Our goal for 2017 is to highlight a specific mission each month in worship. For the month of June, we are highlighting the Home Repair Ministry. The Home Repair Ministry handles basic repairs and building projects for people in need in our church and local community. Our mission is to provide assistance and/or advice to those who cannot afford, or can afford but cannot perform the repairs themselves. Volunteers are needed for this ministry.

What You Can do? Volunteer!

Sign-up forms are available in the lobby today. Check off a few areas where you would like to help and return the form to the church office.

Adopt a Senior!

Groups and individuals are asked to be in touch monthly with the senior they adopt to make sure their needs are met.

Give a Donation!

Donations are needed to purchase supplies needed for repairs. Checks are to be made to ORUMC, memo: Home Repair Ministry. Mission Offering envelopes are available in the pews.

If you have questions or would like to discuss this further, please contact Tim Florence at [email protected].
