Come to the Chapel on Monday, February 18, at 6:30 p.m. to see L’Italiana in Algeri (The Italian Girl in Algiers’). Rossini’s fusion of melody, comedy, and vocal fireworks make L’Italiana in Algeri one of opera’s best loved comedies, and have established its permanent place in the operatic canon.

All men are invited to come and enjoy a delicious breakfast and an interesting pro-gram. —Bob Bishop

Bill began at St. Mark Village as a vendor under contract in 2013. As he worked on electrical, renova-tion and service projects at The Village, he became familiar with the campus, team members, and Resi-dents and realized that he was at a unique and special place. Taking into consideration his 30 years of ex-perience as an Administrator, Supervisor, Inspector, Educator, and Certified Electrical Contractor he was uniquely qualified to run the daily operations at St. Mark Village as the Plant Operations Director. Bill applied and officially became part of the St. Mark Village family in 2015. His job is complex, with many moving parts, as he supervises the Housekeep-ing, Transportation, and Maintenance departments, making sure all work to-gether to meet the Residents needs and keep them and the team members safe and sound. Bill has been mar-ried to Theresa for 28 years and they have 4 young adult children. He loves family gatherings and playing golf.

and Dr. BBQ Join us on Wednesday, March 6, for lunch

“on your own” at Dr. BBQ. Then it’s off to Trad-er Joe’s in St. Pete. The Village bus will leave at 10:30 a.m.

Trader Joe’s started in the 50’s as a small chain of convenience stores. It was first called Pronto Markets. In the sixties the named was changed and the stores were made bigger. Trader Joe’s offers unique, hard to find items at great prices!

Ray Lampe, known to the world as “Dr. BBQ,” is stoking the fire on a new endeavor: as a restaurateur. With partners Suzanne and Roger Perry, owners of the Datz, Dough, and Roux restaurants in Tampa, Lampe brings a new class of dynamic, food-forward smoke-basted meats to Dr. BBQ in St. Petersburg’s thriving Edge Dis-trict. Offering “new American bar-be-que” to the Tampa Bay area, the full-service restaurant sizzles with global flavors. Dr. BBQ created these exclusive new recipes by drawing on inspiration from his travels and the local tastes of St. Pete. For those of you who don’t like bar-be-que there are other items to choose from on their menu, like hamburger, chicken, and salad.

The first day of Spring is a little over a month away. YOU know what that means…time for some Spring

Cleaning! This, of course, is in addition to your weekly cleaning and would be a deep cleaning service. Concierge Services Department is here to assist you with this seldom enjoyed, but often much needed, activity. It is our experience that a studio or a standard one bedroom apartment can be deep cleaned in two hours, which means your charge would be $40. Please call extension 1713 to schedule an appointment.

Resident Medical DeductionFor those Residents with an Admissions Agree-

ment (Continuing Care Agreement) who itemize their deductions on schedule A of IRS Form 1040, the de-ductible amount for monies paid to St. Mark Village during the year is being computed by our accounting firm. If you need this information, a letter outlining this deduction will be available in the Administration Office late February or early March. We will notify you when this information is available.

Vanity FairVanity Fair is a 2018 TV mini-series adapted

from the 1848 novel of the same name by William Makepeace Thackeray. This series follows poverty-stricken Becky Sharp as she attempts to claw her way out of the dregs of society and scale the heights of English society. Sharp strives to rise above her station with little regard for the consequences. In her efforts to advance herself, her manipulation, merriment, forbidden romances, fighting, and dancing catapults her into the court of King George IV while break-ing hearts and losing fortunes along the way.

Come to the Cha-pel on Monday, Febru-ary 25, at 6:30 p.m. and watch this fasci-nating story unfold! Season 1, Episode 2 will be shown.

James R. French, (Septem-ber 28, 1928 - De-cember 20, 2017), was an American radio presenter and producer who has written and pro-duced, as of 2011,

over 803 radio shows, including “The Adventures of Harry Nile” and “The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” series.

French became a morning DJ on KIRO (AM) in Seattle in 1959. He later began production of “Imag-ination Theatre”, which in 2003 moved to KIXI (AM). He made an appearance on NBC’s “Pandora’s Clock” (1996) in the role of an Army non-combat. He provided the voice for the Scientist in “Gunman Chronicles”, Father Grigori in “Half-Life 2”, the Fisherman in “Half-Life 2: Lost Coast”, and more.

In late January 2017, it was formally announced via the Imagination Theater Facebook page that, due to age and health issues, Jim French and his family would be closing down their production company and discontinuing all broadcasts of Imagination Theater at the end of March 2017. French died on December 20, 2017, at age 89. He was predeceased by his wife Pat, who had died earlier the same year.

We have acquired his collection and on Tuesday, February 19, we will play one of these audio CD’s, “Sherlock Holmes: The Voice in the Smoke” at 1:30 p.m. in the Club Room, to see if there is interest in this radio audio program.

the 1st Monday of the month) at 10:00 a.m. in the Dining Room, Huseyin Isguzar, Chief Culinary Officer, will meet with you to discuss last week’s menus and what special requests you might have for the coming weeks.
