Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Port Discovery to see our newest traveling exhibit, The Wizard of Oz Children’s Educational Exhibition! The Wizard of Oz Children’s Educational Exhibition is a journey of self-discovery for the whole family. Guests travel from the Gale Farm in Kansas to the colorful Land of Oz, where they explore Munchkinland, The Crossroads, The Witch’s Castle and The Emerald City before heading back over the rainbow to Baltimore, because, of course, “There’s no place like home.” Along the way, everyone will experience the adventures of Dorothy and her friends as they find their way back to true happiness. Elements of the movie available only in this licensed exhibition include Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers, images of the characters everyone knows and loves from the film and classic movie moments: Visit Professor Marvel’s Wagon, create your own tornado in Dorothy’s bedroom and explore Munchkin houses. Enter The Emerald City and create a “Horse of a Different Color” Play at the kaleidoscope and prism stations Climb the mountain to the Wicked Witch’s Castle to capture the Wicked Witch’s broom from the Winged Monkeys. Click your heels three times while reciting “There’s no place like home,” as you depart the Land of Oz. In addition to activities within the exhibit, Port Discovery will host special Oz themed programs throughout the duration of the exhibit. Be sure to visit portdiscovery.org for program information. The Wizard of Oz Children’s Educational Exhibition is a journey of self-discovery for the whole family. “I Have a Dream” WeekendJanuary 19th-21stJoin us for our annual “I Have a Dream” Weekend to honor the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through the celebration of our community! Make a community quilt square with the Baltimore African American Quilters, learn about Negro League Baseball and meet the players! On Monday, visit the annual living history museum of African American history as portrayed by the students of Northwood Elementary School. For our littlest visitors, join the Kindersinger for interactive performances of “Happy Birthday MLK!” and our friends from Wildlife Adventures will be here to teach us how to be kind to the animals in our community!

Family Exploration DayFebruary 3rd • 11 am - 12 pmFamilies of children with special needs are invited to come and play in the Museum an hour before we open to the public and enjoy a fun filled day featuring interactive exhibits and cool programs. Museum admission is $7 per person, but you must pre-register at portdiscovery.org/educators/specialneeds_events. Space is limited and available on a first come, first-served basis.

Chinese New Year CelebrationFebruary 16thCelebrate the Year of the Snake and learn about Chinese culture. Make a Chinese zodiac; learn Chinese calligraphy; sample cuisine from P.F. Chang’s; enjoy an authentic Chinese lion dance; and hear Chinese folktales. Plus, meet live animals with Wildlife Adventures and enjoy family activities with The Mall in Columbia.

Hosted by PJ Library Baltimore and Beth Tfiloh Congregation, PJ On the Town is a fun-filled event where you can connect with other families and meet members, educators, and clergy from Beth Tfiloh Congregation at Port Discovery.

All families are welcome to attend and will receive a special discount admission price to Port Discovery: $1 for one-year olds; $2 for two-year-olds; $3 for three-year-olds; $4 for four-year-olds; $5 for children ages 5 through 12 and $10 for ages 13 and up, including adults.

You must pre-register with the Center for Jewish Education Baltimore to receive the discount admission.
