DISCOVER FAMILY LIFE
IN A NEW LIGHT
L ittle Bowden Rise is an exceptional
new community built on the fringes of
Market Harborough and recently named
one of the top 50 best places to live by the
Sunday Times.
Sitting on the Northamptonshire-Leicestershire
border, Market Harborough is a vibrant and
friendly town with a mix of independent
stores and a fantastic range of cafés, bars and
restaurants that belie its modest population of
around 23,000.
The town is located on what was once part
of Rockingham Forest, a royal hunting forest
where medieval monarchs including William I
tracked deer and wild boar. Today the surviving
forest lies near Corby and offers visitors plenty
of routes for walking, cycling and riding.
Careys New Homes is delighted to introduce a
superb development of family homes ranging
from traditional 3 bedroom semi-detached
houses through to spacious 4 and 5 bedroom
executive homes - all built with the modern
family in mind.
AN HISTORIC & ATMOSPHERIC
TOWN
ST DIONYSIUS PARISH CHURCH
In 1221 royal permission was granted for
market trading in Market Harborough
and since then the town has grown
and prospered. There is a pleasing mix of
Victorian and Georgian architecture alongside
the more modern shopping districts that
include the pedestrianised St Mary’s Place
Shopping Centre.
The town centre provides a Waitrose and a
Sainsbury’s Superstore, both within walking
distance of Little Bowden Rise. The indoor
Harborough Market is a popular destination
and is supplemented by a regular farmer’s
market and an antiques market that is held
every week.
The town’s history is evident in the beautiful
St Dionysius Parish Church with a spire that
dominates the local skyline. The distinctive
half-timbered Old Grammar School lies
adjacent and is Grade I listed, set on ten
octagonal oak posts, it has become an iconic
symbol of Market Harborough.
The Harborough Leisure Centre offers fitness
classes, tennis, badminton and a range of pool
activities and there are several local clubs
providing a varied choice of sports. Less than
two miles south of the centre lies Market
Harborough Golf Club with a challenging
course and a welcoming atmosphere for
visiting players and members.

M arket Harborough is brimming
with historic pubs, lively cafés
and an eclectic mix of restaurants.
Visit the Waterfront Restaurant and Bar for
a memorable Sunday carvery with views
over the canal; Ascough's Bistro is a popular
contemporary rendezvous serving inventive
dishes using local produce; The Oat Hill is a
stylish gastropub and a perfect winter venue
with comfy sofas and open fires or try the
highly regarded Red Lion for real ales and a
scrumptious seasonal menu.
Families will find diversion in the town
centre’s Welland Park – there are tennis
courts, a skate park and a community café.
Opt for a performance at the local theatre
or unearth some fascinating insights into the
local history at the Harborough Museum.
Education is well covered with a great choice
of primary schools including Meadowdale and
the very local Little Bowden Primary School.
There are pre-schools, day nurseries and a
choice of secondary or 6th form institutions
nearby.
Just 5 miles north east of Market Harborough
is the famous Grade II listed Foxton Locks.
Surrounded by Leicestershire’s beautiful
countryside, this unique landmark has two
‘staircases’ each of five locks and is a popular
tourist destination. There are colourful
narrowboats, a museum, lovely canal walks and
a lively waterside pub.

M arket Harborough station is less than
half a mile from Little Bowden Rise
and with direct services to St Pancras
international station, journey times to London
of under an hour are achievable. If business or
pleasure take you to Nottingham, Leicester, Derby
or Sheffield then the regular East Midlands Train
services will effortlessly meet your requirements.
By road, central Leicester is a 30 minute drive,
Kettering and Corby are equally accessible, the M1
is just 13 miles and the M6 18 miles away.
Slightly further afield, Leicester offers a diverse
shopping experience centred on St Martins Square
and a major arcade with a multiplex cinema at
Highcross. Leicester’s award winning National
Space Centre is the UK’s largest dedicated
attraction and provides a great family day out.
Corby’s atmospheric Kirby Hall is one of England’s
greatest Elizabethan 17th century houses and is run
by the English Heritage. Kettering boasts the lovely
Boughton House and lovers of art and architecture
will find it well worth a visit. Younger family
members will be fascinated by the giant insects
and exotic reptiles at Bugtopia, just to the west of
Kettering.
Of course with the speedy rail links to St Pancras
International, shopping in London’s West End, a
night out at the theatre or dinner at a Michelin
starred restaurant are entirely realistic.
