Lion

Lions are members of the feline group and are considered big cats. Lions are very social animals and are the only big cats to live in groups. A group of lions is called a pride. Male lions have thick manes and females don't. Females are smaller than male lions who can weigh more than 500 pounds. Lions have an excellent vision witch allows them to hunt at night. Lions can see eight times better than humans in the dark. Besides hunting for their prey they steal kills from other animals like hyenas do. A female lion called lioness do most of the hunting for the pride. They are better hunters because they are smaller and more agile witch makes them more faster than male lions who overheat with their heavy mane.

The prey is usually medium sized mammals like zebras, wild boars and deer and many more. Lions have a fast working digestive system they spend up to 20 hours a day being lazy laying on their backs or snoozing in a tree to concern energy, at night when it's cooler is when they hunt with help from their good night vision. Lions can go 4-5 days without drinking. The only predators that hunt lions are the Nile crocodile and humans. Lions can be found in many places in Affrica and a little bit in India where they are endangered. Male lions have a more powerful roar than a female. Lions are known as the king of the jungle.
