What Networks Do You Have?
• First network – your direct LinkedIn connections
• If you exceed 500 followers, get the best picture of your network by going to Advanced Search
• Second network – the people connected to your first network (but not to you)
• Third network – the people connected to your second network
• Group connections – those people you know through your groups (may or may not be connected to you)
YOUR NETWORKS
Leverage Your Network(s)
• Understood who is in your first network
• Past & present co-workers
• Classmates
• Friends & family
• Your second network
• Just as important – easy to connect to them or “ask for an introduction”
• Group connections
• Ease of interacting with them, also easy to connect
• Alumni connections
• Who graduated the same year as me? Who lives in the same city? Who is in the same branch?
YOUR NETWORKS
▪ 89% of recruiters have reported hiring someone through LinkedIn; 94% are active on LinkedIn
▪ There are over 20 million LI users, 5% are recruiters
▪ Only 36% of job seekers are active on LinkedIn
CONNECTING WITH
HR & RECRUITERS
• Allows you to get an insight into how and when companies hire, also get familiar with job requirements and culture
• If recruiter is a 3rd connection, use an InMail and send them a short message to express your interest in connecting – and why
• 59% of recruiters rated talent sourced from social media as “highest quality”
• Job seekers, by a wide margin, prefer Facebook, with 83% reporting they are active there, compared to just 65% of recruiters
Many reasons to be active:

HR & RECRUITERS
• Gather business intelligence
