Heaven’s Landing is delighted to announce the completion of the runway-taxiway connector at the northeast end of the field. With the addition of the tie-in, the Heaven’s Landing runway is now 5200 feet long. The tie-in expansion eliminates any need for back-taxiing and enhances what is already a stunningly beautiful airfield. Developer Mike Ciochetti says the project had been in the works, but a partnership with wannaGOFAST and Heaven’s Landing made the completion a reality in time for the third wannaGOFAST Shootout scheduled for September 13 and 14.

Farm to Table Capital of Georgia

With enthusiastic fanfare, the Rabun County Commissioners voted to make Rabun County, GA the “Farm to Table Capital of Georgia” on August 26. Thanks to an initiative brought forth from the Development Authority and a coalition of local restaurateurs, farmers, chefs, vintners, apiarists, and millers the Commission formally recognized Rabun County’s growth in both agri- and culinary-tourism.

There is no doubt Rabun County and the surrounding areas are well-known and recognized for fine food. Over the last decade the growing industry has thrived and blossomed. Both local grassroots organizations and culinary businesses continue to garner prestigious awards and other celebrated accolades. Rabun County alone boasts numerous award-winning chefs, celebrated vineyards, bountiful farmer’s markets, and innovative organic farms, mills, dairies, and farm to community programs. This recognition coupled with a fantastic climate is a perfect combination for growth. The developing industry brings in a tremendous number of tourists, but also gives people a reason to return again and again or to settle in and stay.
