This month commemorates our30th anniversary as a church. There are not too many people inour church now who were part ofCLC 30 years ago but each ofthem are an important part of thefoundation that we have builtupon. There are lots of thingsthat have changed at CLC overthese thirty years but the beautyof our church is that there aresome crucial things that havenever changed, and it’s thosethings that I value so much hereat Christian Life Centre.

Passion for God and for worshiphas always been a hallmark ofCLC. As well as this, for the lastthree decades, there has been adeep desire to reach lost people, and an excitement when we haveseen people turn to Jesus. Myexperience of CLC has also re-vealed a willingness to embracechange whenever it has provedimportant to do so and that issuch a great atmosphere in whichto lead a church forward.

PASTOR’S BLOG

Over recent years I have receivedsome degree of acknowledgmentfor the growth of Christian LifeCentre, which though nice is notentirely accurate. Because withoutthe passion, enthusiasm, commit-ment, devotion and serving heartof so many people we might still beplodding away in a hired hall unno-ticed. Everything that CLC is to-day is because of the absolutegoodness of God and that revealsanother unchanging characteristicof our church – we realise we arenothing, and can do nothing with-out Him. And it is my intention inthe years that are ahead of us thatthese same qualities will be at theforefront of CLC and the genera-tion that begin to overtake us andlead us forward.

‘Study Leave’

One of the signs of a healthy strong church is often when men and womenin the church are called into training for Christian service. Over the yearsthere have been many such times when we have seen young people launchout in these ways. Below are another two of our young men who are goingto be spreading their wings and trusting God to lead them on.

Phil is going to Regents Theological College at thebeginning of October to start a three year degreecourse which includes practical training for minis-try. Though Phil won’t be leaving Birmingham itis a step of faith for him and Grace as Phil com-mutes each day to Malvern and faces the challengeof studying too. If you would like to support Philfinancially or be aware of any particular prayerneeds please make contact with him for moreinformation.

Matthew has grown up in CLC sincemoving with Stuart and Amanda toBirmingham as a two year old. We havewatched him grow and develop as aworship leader within our youth minis-try and then into the adult congrega-tions. Matt is going to Sydney inAustralia in January 2013 to begin aone year course in worship and musicleadership. If you would like to sup-port Matthew financially or in prayersupport please make contact with himfor more information.

In the month that we remember God’s faithfulness to us over 30 years as achurch, we have chosen to set aside the first week of September to give

ourselves fully to the purpose of prayer and realigning our hearts and livesto Him as living sacrifices of worship. For this reason, all other church

activities will be cancelled in order that we can be free to enter into the weekfree from any other church commitments. The church will be open each

day from 9am until 9pm. The main hall of the church will be used to bringa constant stream of worship throughout the day and we would encourageyou to join with us for any part of the day or evening to express your

sacrifice of love and worship as we maintain a constantopenness to the Holy Spirit.

The upstairs rooms of the church will be available for private/ meditativeprayer and times of stillness and reflection upon God’s Word. Each day

between 2-3pm we will incorporate a ‘Prayer Walk’ of the local area to prayas we feel led by the Holy Spirit for local issues and to claim the ground for

God’s Kingdom purposes. Each day will conclude with a celebrationmeeting together at 7.30pm.

THE ARKPROJECT

Each week we are able to help families and individuals that are in urgentneed of help with food parcels. Without your help, we are unable to op-erate in reaching out in this practical way with the love of God. We areonce again appealing for items of non-perishable foods such as rice,

pasta, noodles, tea bags, coffee and tinned foods etc that can be storedand used as and when needed. All donations can either be left in thedesignated bin in the church foyer or brought into our church officesduring the week. Please continue to support the project as you have

done so faithfully in the past. It is very much appreciated.

We are looking for additional volunteers both male and female to join ourThursday Drop-In team. The Drop-In is operates from our Centre in
