The Florence Police Department in South Carolina, an NDI Recognition Systems (NDI-RS) customer, apprehended a wanted man on Thursday, Jan. 16, thanks to an alert from an officer’s automatic license platerecognition (ALPR) system.

A Florence patrol officer was monitoring traffic when a passing car triggered an alert for his ALPR system, manufactured by NDI-RS. The alert showed that the vehicle was owned by a man wanted on charges of second-degree assault and battery. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, and the driver refused to stop. After a briefchase, the car was stopped and the owner of the vehicle was apprehended.

The Florence Police Department relies on an NDI-RS back office system that is maintained by the SouthCarolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
