LCHS Ambassadors Club. Last Saturday, April 1st, theAmbassadors Club visited the VA Hospital Veterans inCheyenne, WY. With this visit, the club concludes one ofits yearly projects for which they have been fundraising allyear by selling pizza, running concessions and sellingLiberty Legacies books. The project consists of bringing theveterans mugs for hot beverages, a bag full of toiletries andgrippy socks. The VA Hospital in Cheyenne servesveterans from three states which means lots of them don’treceive family visitors. Every year our club puts togetherabout 25 to 30 mugs. Putting together each mug costs about$18 dollars. In addition, this year our club made an extraeffort to fulfill a request made by the nurses; to bring theveterans grippy socks and entertainment. Ms. JaydenFrable and Ms. Liliana Bachli sang the United StatesNational Anthem and Ms. Laura Rencher played the violin.

Additionally, our group of students kept the veterans sharing stories. We thank you all thatparticipated in this wonderful event.

Alumni Update from MadyAllen (LCHS ’16), on ayearlong, worldwide Christian mission trip.

    Hi!

I am currently wrapping up the last leg of my trip in SouthAfrica. This was the place that Iwas the most excited about and I haveabsolutely loved it. I never want to leave. My team and Ihave had theopportunity to spend 3 days of the week being teachers assistants at alocalschool. We help the teachers with whatever they need that day and love onthe kiddos thebest we can. They need it. It has been incredible seeing thedifferences and similaritiesbetween Liberty and this school. I can truly saythat I have never been more thankful for theeducation and experience thatI received from Liberty than I am now. The teachers at Libertyare able toinvest in our lives and education. At this school, the class size is 40+ kids, andthey are not able to receive the care and attention that they need. Thereare so many kids thatare struggling and they are not able to receive helpbecause there are simply not enoughqualified teachers. I help in the 5thgrade, and many of them cannot read. It truly breaks myheart.

However, I am so enjoying life here. We have gone on manygrand adventures (such asshark cage diving and climbing Table Mountain), but Iam ready to return home. I love andmiss you all and I can't wait to see you inMay!

Sincerely, Mady Allen Class of 2016

Pending at the StateCapitol this week is Senate Bill 61, which wouldprovide charter public schoolstudents an equal share of local dollars (mill levy overridedollars). This bill passed the Senate last week with strong bipartisan support. Together we can stop this - butour StateRepresentatives must hear from you today. CLICK HERE to take action now. • Summer Program Information. As many of you may have noticed from the mailyou arereceiving (especially if you're a junior), summer planning is uponus. There are many greatopportunitiesto take advantage of, and they don't have to cost thousands of dollars. Studentscan volunteer, get a summer job, seek out anunpaid internship, or do something that willhelp them to grow as individual. There are programs at many colleges and universities, butbeaware that just because you attend a summer program at a choice college doesnotnecessarily give you an advantage in the admission process at thatschool. These programscan certainly beenriching and fun, but it's important to be motivated by the experience, nottheresume opportunity.

CLICK HERE to see the list of summer programs. Now isthe time to begin researching andapplying. Talk to Mrs. Stoltzfus or Mrs. Rieb if you have any questions.

College Acceptances. Students in theLCHS Class of2017 have been accepted tothe following colleges. Many schools donotmake their decisions until late March.LCHS students still awaitthe results of manycollege applications. CLICK HERE to viewacceptances.

LibertyLegacies Books For Sale. TheLiberty Legaciesbook was written and published by LCHS students and is forsale. The stories of the students’ grandparents, andfamilymembers are incredible. Observe Traffic Laws AroundLCHS. If you are dropping off your student on Custer, please keep the following in mind. 1) Pull all the way forward in the drop-off lane, 2) Studentsshould be ready to exit their vehicles when the car is stopped. (this is not time to sit and talkabout what is for dinner or finish homework), 3) All students should exit the vehicle on thecurb side, 4) If there is a parent that has to get out of the car to help a student with items inthe vehicle, this is not that lane. The student parking lot would be a better location to drop-off, 5)No U-Turns, 6) No jaywalking. (Drivers, don’t promote jaywalking by picking up ordropping off passengers from thecurbside opposite the LCHS property). 7)Yield topedestrians in crosswalks. These and other traffic laws are too-frequently ignored latelyduring pickup and drop-offs. For the safety of our students, please adhere to local trafficlaws and to our pickup and drop-off guidance. Please CLICK HERE to view it.If time is required for anything longer then to just drop-off a student, consider droppingstudents off in the student parking lot. Particularly if there is a bike, musical instrument orlarge student project that is being unloaded. This location would also be good for beginningdrivers with permits that need to change places with their parent after they get dropped off.
