Phone Overview

1. Earpiece Lets you hear the caller and automatedprompts.

2. LCD Screen Displays digital clock, phone status,and information you choose to display.

3. Volume Keys Use to adjust the Master Volume instandby mode* and the Earpiece Volume during acall. Use to adjust font sizes when viewingmessages, entering phone numbers (in standbymode) or browsing menus (except for the Mainmenu).

4. Left Soft Key Perform functions shown on thebottom-left of the display.

5. Accessory/ Charger Port Connects the phone tothe battery charger or other compatible accessories.

6. Speakerphone Key Use to change tospeakerphone mode.

7. Send Key Use to make and answer calls or send amessage.

8. Hand Strap Hole Allows you to insert a hand strapso that you can easily carry your phone on yourhand.

9. 3.5 mm Headset Jack Allows you to plug in an optionalheadset for convenient, hands-free conversations.

11 Camera Lens Use to take a photo. Keep it cleanfor optimal photo quality.

12. OK/ Directional Key Use to select thefunction displayed at the bottom center of theLCD between the Left and Right Soft Keyfunctions. Use the Directional Key to scrollthrough the menu items and highlight a specificfield or object by moving up, down, left or right.

13. Right Soft Key Perform functions shown on thebottom-right of the display.

* Standby mode is when the phone is waiting forinput from you. No menu is displayed and thephone isn’t performing any action. It’s the startingpoint for all of the instruction steps.

14. Clear/ Voice Commands Key Deletes singlespaces or characters with a quick press, but pressand hold to delete the entire word. Also backs outof menus, one level at a time. You can also use thiskey to access Voice Commands (when you are notentering text).

Using the QWERTY Keyboard

Your phone features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, specifically designed foreasy and comfortable text entry. The QWERTY keyboard uses the samelayout as the keyboard on your computer, but has several added featuresand options to make text entry easier.

To enter text with the QWERTY keyboard1. In a text entry screen, slide open the QWERTY keyboard.

(The display automatically adjusts to landscape mode.)

2. Use your thumbs to enter text.

� To change capitalization, press .

� To enter an alternate character on a key, press , then press thekey with the alternate character. The next key press resumes normalcharacter entry. To lock in alternate character entry, press twice.

NOTETo quickly enter ".com", press , then press .

� To turn speaker on/off, press and hold .

� To access Favorites from standby mode with the QWERTY keyboardopen, press .

� For additional text entry options, press the Left Soft Key andselect an option such as Quick Text.

When you open the QWERTYkeyboard from standby mode, theQuick Menu is displayed, giving youquick access to Messaging,Favorites and Social Networks.

Contacts Search

When the phone is in standbymode with the QWERTY keyboardopen, press any alphabetical key toopen your Contact List and searchfor entries that begin with theletter(s) you enter.

Text Message

When the phone is in standbymode with the QWERTY keyboardopen, press to create a newtext message.

Vibrate Mode

When the phone is in standbymode with the QWERTY keyboardopen, press and hold totoggle between Vibrate mode andNormal mode.

Voice Command

When the phone is in standbymode with the QWERTY keyboardopen, press and hold toactivate the Voice Commandsfeature.

Social Networks

When the phone is in standbymode with the QWERTY keyboardopen, press to access theSocial Networks menu.

Language setting

Your phone supports fourlanguages including English,Spanish, Simplified Chinese andKorean.

Step 1. Remove the BackCover

2. Use the fingertip cutout at thetop of the phone to pull theback cover off.

Your device comes with a Wall/USBcharger and a USB cable whichconnect together to charge yourphone. To charge your phone:

2. Remove the battery from thebattery compartment by liftingthe bottom of the battery usingthe fingertip cutout.

Charging with USB

You can use your computer tocharge your phone. To be able tocharge with the USB cable, youneed to have the necessary USBdriver installed on your PC first.Connect one end of the USB cableto the Accessory/ Charger Port onyour phone and the other end to ahigh-power USB port on your PC(commonly located on the frontpanel of the computer).

NOTE Low-power USB ports are notsupported, such as the USB portson your keyboard or bus-poweredUSB hub. The LG USB Driver isdownloadable from the www.lge.com.

Battery TemperatureProtection

If the battery gets overheated, thephone will automatically turn off.When you turn the phone back on,a message pops up alerting youthat the phone was powered off foryour safety.

How to Install Your microSD™

Card

1. Remove the back cover andlocate the microSD™ slot.

2. Insert the microSD™ card with thecontacts facing downwards until itclicks into the slot.

NOTE If you insert the card in thewrong direction, it may damageyour phone or your card.

NOTEMemory card issold separately.

NOTICEPlease make sure that the "B" side facesup before inserting a USB cable into theAccessory/Charger Port of your phone.

How to Remove YourmicroSD™ Card

Remove the back cover from thephone. Gently press the exposededge of the microSDTM card torelease it, then remove it from theslot and replace the cover.

NOTE Do not attempt to remove themicroSD™ card while reading orwriting to the card.

Battery Charge Level

You can find the battery charge levelat the top right corner of the

LCD screen. When the charge levelbecomes low, the battery sensorsounds a warning tone, blinks thebattery icon, and/or displays awarning message. As the chargelevel approaches empty, the phoneautomatically switches off withoutsaving.

Signal Strength

Call quality depends on the signalstrength in your area. You can tellhow much signal strength you haveby the number of bars next to thesignal strength icon - themore bars, the stronger the signal.If you’re having problems withsignal quality, move to an open areaor, when inside a building, trymoving near a window.

Using the external keys

Correcting Dialing MistakesWhile entering a phone number,press once to erase the lastdigit entered, or hold it down for atleast two seconds to delete all thedigits.

Mute Function

The Mute function prevents the

transmission of your voice to thecaller. To quickly activate Mutewhile in a call, press the Left SoftKey [Mute]. To Unmute, pressthe Left Soft Key [Unmute].

Quick Volume Adjustment

Quickly adjust ringer and earpiecevolumes by pressing the VolumeKeys on the left side of the phone.Press the Volume Up Key toincrease and the Volume Down Key

to decrease.

NOTE The earpiece volume can only beadjusted during a call and theKeypad Volume can only beadjusted through the SoundsSettings menu.

Scalable Fonts

Your phone gives you on-the-spotcontrol over font size not only indisplaying dialing numbers, but alsoin viewing messages, Contactinformation, and lists (such asmenus, sub-menus, call history,etc.). Easily change font size bypressing the Volume Keys todynamically set text to small,medium or large.

Events Menu

The Events menu keeps track ofrecent phone events, such asmissed calls, messages, calendaritems, alarms, and more. Fromstandby mode, press theDirectional Key downward toquickly access the Events menu.Scroll to the event you want, thenpress to view details.

Call Waiting

During a call, one beep indicatesanother incoming call. Press to answer it and put thefirst call on hold. Press againto return to the first call.

Caller ID

Caller ID displays the numberand/or name and picture (ifapplicable) of the person callingwhen your phone rings.

Voice Commands

Voice Commands allow you to dothings by verbal command (e.g.,make calls, check Voicemail, etc.).The Voice Commands feature isaccessed by pressing the VoiceCommands Key whether theQWERTY keyboard is open orclosed.

follow the prompts.

Clear Key Activation

Storing Basics

Preset Speed Dials

Speed Dials 95, 96, 97, 98, 99 and411 are preset to access certainphone account information: 95(#Warranty Center), 96 (#DATA),97 (#BAL), 98 (#MIN), 99(#PMT), and 411 (DirectoryAssistance). Unlike Speed Dial 1,these can be changed if you want.

SHORTCUTFrom standby mode, pressing the LeftSoft Key [Message] is a shortcut toyour Messaging menu.

Depending on the content and sizeof your messages, the phone canstore hundreds of messages(including a maximum of 300 textmessages, 100 multimedia messagenotifications and 200 multimediamessages). Other limits to availablecharacters per message may exist.Please check with your serviceprovider for system features andcapabilities.

New Message Alert

Your phone will alert you when youhave new messages.

1. The phone displays a messageon the screen.

2. The message icon ( ) isdisplayed on the screen. In thecase of a high priority message,the icon ( ) will flash.

Viewing Text Messages on theLCD Screen

When you receive a text message,you can view it on the front LCDscreen without opening theQWERTY keyboard.

Inbox View

By default, the Messaging menustores all of your messages in oneMessages folder sorted by address.You can choose to store yourmessages by time received, whichsorts messages into separate Inboxand Sent folders instead. Are wireless phones safe?

Scientific research on the subject ofwireless phones and radiofrequency (“RF”) energy has beenconducted worldwide for manyyears, and continues. In the UnitedStates, the Food and DrugAdministration (“FDA”) and theFederal CommunicationsCommission (“FCC”) set policiesand procedures for wireless phones.The FDA issued a websitepublication on health issues relatedto cell phone usage where it states,“The scientific community at large… believes that the weight ofscientific evidence does not showan association between exposure toradiofrequency (RF) from cell

phones and adverse healthoutcomes. Still the scientificcommunity does recommendconducting additional research toaddress gaps in knowledge. Thatresearch is being conducted aroundthe world and FDA continues tomonitor developments in this field.You can access the joint FDA/FCCwebsite at http://www.fda.gov(under “c”in the subject index,select Cell Phones > Research). What does “SAR” mean?

In 1996, the FCC, working with theFDA, the U.S. EnvironmentalProtection Agency, and otheragencies, established RF exposuresafety guidelines for wirelessphones in the United States. Beforea wireless phone model is availablefor sale to the public, it must betested by the manufacturer andcertified to the FCC that it doesnot exceed limits established by theFCC. One of these limits isexpressed as a Specific AbsorptionRate, or “SAR.” SAR is a measure ofthe rate of absorption of RF energyin the body. Tests for SAR areconducted with the phonetransmitting at its highest powerlevel in all tested frequency bands.Since 1996, the FCC has requiredthat the SAR of handheld wirelessphones not exceed 1.6 watts perkilogram, averaged over one gram oftissue.

Although the SAR is determined atthe highest power level, the actualSAR value of a wireless phone whileoperating can be less than thereported SAR value. This is becausethe SAR value may vary from call to

call, depending on factors such asproximity to a cell site, theproximity of the phone to the bodywhile in use, and the use of hands-free devices. Can I minimize my RF exposure?

Do wireless phones pose anyspecial risks to children?

The FDA/FCC website states that“the scientific evidence does notshow a danger to users of wirelesscommunication devices, includingchildren.” The FDA/FCC websitefurther states that “some groupssponsored by other nationalgovernments have advised that

children be discouraged from usingwireless phones at all”. For example,the Stewart Report from the UnitedKingdom [“UK”] made such arecommendation in December2000. In this report a group ofindependent experts noted that noevidence exists that using a cellphone causes brain tumors or otherill effects. [The UK’s]recommendation to limit cell phoneuse by children was strictlyprecautionary; it was not based onscientific evidence that any healthhazard exists. This model phone meets thegovernment's requirements forexposure to radio waves. Yourwireless phone is a radio transmitterand receiver. It is designed andmanufactured not to exceed theemission limits for exposure toRadio Frequency (RF) energy set bythe Federal CommunicationsCommission of the U.S.Government. These limits are partof comprehensive guidelines andestablish permitted levels of RFenergy for the general population.The guidelines are based onstandards that were developed byindependent scientific organizationsthrough periodic and thoroughevaluation of scientific studies. Tests for SAR are conducted usingstandard operating positionsspecified by the FCC with thephone transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all testedfrequency bands. Although SAR isdetermined at the highest certifiedpower level, the actual SAR level ofthe phone while operating can bewell below the maximum value.Because the phone is designed tooperate at multiple power levels touse only the power required toreach the network, in general, thecloser you are to a wireless basestation antenna, the lower thepower output.

While some wireless phones areused near some hearing devices(hearing aids and cochlearimplants), users may detect abuzzing, humming, or whining noise.Some hearing devices are more

immune than others to thisinterference noise, and phones alsovary in the amount of interferencethey generate.

The wireless telephone industry hasdeveloped a rating system forwireless phones, to assist hearingdevice users to find phones thatmay be compatible with theirhearing devices. Not all phoneshave been rated. Phones that arerated have the rating on their boxor a label located on the box.

The ratings are not guarantees.Results will vary depending on theuser's hearing device and hearingloss. If your hearing device happensto be vulnerable to interference,you may not be able to use a ratedphone successfully. Trying out thephone with your hearing device isthe best way to evaluate it for yourpersonal needs.

M-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4meet FCC requirements and arelikely to generate less interferenceto hearing devices than phonesthat are not labeled. M4 is thebetter/higher of the two ratings.

T-Ratings: Phones rated T3 or T4meet FCC requirements and are

Hearing devices may also be rated.Your hearing device manufactureror hearing health professional mayhelp you find this rating. Higherratings mean that the hearingdevice is relatively immune tointerference noise. The hearing aidand wireless phone rating values arethen added together. A sum of 5 isconsidered acceptable for normaluse. A sum of 6 is considered forbest use.

In the above example, if a hearingaid meets the M2 level rating andthe wireless phone meets the M3level rating, the sum of the twovalues equal M5. This shouldprovide the hearing aid user with“normal usage” while using theirhearing aid with the particularwireless phone. “Normal usage” inthis context is defined as a signal

quality that’s acceptable for normaloperation.

The M mark is intended to besynonymous with the U mark. TheT mark is intended to besynonymous with the UT mark. TheM and T marks are recommendedby the Alliance forTelecommunications IndustriesSolutions (ATIS). The U and UTmarks are referenced in Section20.19 of the FCC Rules. The HACrating and measurement procedureare described in the AmericanNational Standards Institute (ANSI)C63.19 standard.

1. Do wireless phones pose ahealth hazard?

The available scientific evidencedoes not show that any healthproblems are associated with usingwireless phones. There is no proof,

however, that wireless phones areabsolutely safe. Wireless phonesemit low levels of Radio Frequency(RF) energy in the microwave rangewhile being used. They also emitvery low levels of RF when instandby mode. Whereas high levelsof RF can produce health effects(by heating tissue), exposure to lowlevel RF that does not produceheating effects causes no knownadverse health effects. Manystudies of low level RF exposureshave not found any biologicaleffects. Some studies havesuggested that some biologicaleffects may occur, but such findingshave not been confirmed byadditional research. In some cases,other researchers have haddifficulty in reproducing thosestudies, or in determining thereasons for inconsistent results.

2. What is the FDA's roleconcerning the safety of wirelessphones?

Under the law, the FDA does notreview the safety of radiation-emitting consumer products suchas wireless phones before they canbe sold, as it does with new drugs

or medical devices. However, theagency has authority to take actionif wireless phones are shown toemit Radio Frequency (RF) energyat a level that is hazardous to theuser. In such a case, the FDA couldrequire the manufacturers ofwireless phones to notify users ofthe health hazard and to repair,replace, or recall the phones sothat the hazard no longer exists.

Although the existing scientific datado not justify FDA regulatoryactions, the FDA has urged thewireless phone industry to take anumber of steps, including thefollowing:

� Support needed research intopossible biological effects of RFof the type emitted by wirelessphones;

� Design wireless phones in a waythat minimizes any RF exposureto the user that is not necessaryfor device function; and

� Cooperate in providing users ofwireless phones with the bestpossible information on possibleeffects of wireless phone use onhuman health.

The FDA belongs to an interagencyworking group of the federalagencies that have responsibility fordifferent aspects of RF safety toensure coordinated efforts at thefederal level. The following agenciesbelong to this working group:

� National Institute forOccupational Safety and Health

� Environmental Protection Agency

� Occupational Safety and HealthAdministration

� National Telecommunicationsand Information Administration

The National Institutes of Healthparticipates in some interagencyworking group activities, as well.

The FDA shares regulatoryresponsibilities for wireless phoneswith the Federal CommunicationsCommission (FCC). All phones thatare sold in the United States mustcomply with FCC safety guidelinesthat limit RF exposure. The FCCrelies on the FDA and other healthagencies for safety questions aboutwireless phones.

The FCC also regulates the basestations that the wireless phone

While thesebase stations operate at higherpower than do the wireless phonesthemselves, the RF exposures thatpeople get from these base stationsare typically thousands of timeslower than those they can get fromwireless phones. Base stations arethus not the subject of the safetyquestions discussed in thisdocument.

3. What kinds of phones are thesubject of this update?

The term “wireless phone” refershere to handheld wireless phoneswith built-in antennas, often called“cell”, “mobile”, or “PCS” phones.These types of wireless phones canexpose the user to measurableRadio Frequency (RF) energybecause of the short distancebetween the phone and the user’shead.

These RF exposures are limited byFCC safety guidelines that weredeveloped with the advice of theFDA and other federal health andsafety agencies. When the phone islocated at greater distances fromthe user, the exposure to RF is

drastically lower because a person'sRF exposure decreases rapidly withincreasing distance from the source.The so-called “cordless phones,”which have a base unit connectedto the telephone wiring in a house,typically operate at far lower powerlevels, and thus produce RFexposures far below the FCC safetylimits.

4. What are the results of theresearch done already?

The research done thus far hasproduced conflicting results, andmany studies have suffered fromflaws in their research methods.Animal experiments investigatingthe effects of Radio Frequency (RF)energy exposures characteristic ofwireless phones have yieldedconflicting results that often cannotbe repeated in other laboratories. Afew animal studies, however, havesuggested that low levels of RFcould accelerate the developmentof cancer in laboratory animals.However, many of the studies thatshowed increased tumordevelopment used animals that hadbeen genetically engineered ortreated with cancer-causing

chemicals so as to be pre-disposedto develop cancer in the absence ofRF exposure. Other studiesexposed the animals to RF for up to22 hours per day. These conditionsare not similar to the conditionsunder which people use wirelessphones, so we do not know withcertainty what the results of suchstudies mean for human health.Three large epidemiology studieshave been published sinceDecember 2000. Between them,the studies investigated anypossible association between theuse of wireless phones and primarybrain cancer, glioma, meningioma,or acoustic neuroma, tumors of thebrain or salivary gland, leukemia, orother cancers. None of the studiesdemonstrated the existence of anyharmful health effects from wirelessphone RF exposures. However, noneof the studies can answer questionsabout long-term exposures, sincethe average period of phone use inthese studies was around threeyears.

5. What research is needed todecide whether RF exposure fromwireless phones poses a healthrisk?

A combination of laboratory studiesand epidemiological studies ofpeople actually using wirelessphones would provide some of thedata that are needed. Lifetimeanimal exposure studies could becompleted in a few years. However,very large numbers of animalswould be needed to provide reliableproof of a cancer promoting effectif one exists. Epidemiologicalstudies can provide data that isdirectly applicable to humanpopulations, but ten or more yearsfollow-up may be needed toprovide answers about some healtheffects, such as cancer. This isbecause the interval between thetime of exposure to a cancer-causing agent and the time tumorsdevelop — if they do — may bemany, many years. Theinterpretation of epidemiologicalstudies is hampered by difficultiesin measuring actual RF exposureduring day-to-day use of wirelessphones. Many factors affect thismeasurement, such as the angle at

6. What is the FDA doing to findout more about the possiblehealth effects of wireless phoneRF?

The FDA is working with the U.S.National Toxicology Program andwith groups of investigators aroundthe world to ensure that highpriority animal studies areconducted to address importantquestions about the effects ofexposure to Radio Frequency (RF)energy.

The FDA has been a leadingparticipant in the World HealthOrganization International ElectroMagnetic Fields (EMF) Project sinceits inception in 1996. An influentialresult of this work has been thedevelopment of a detailed agendaof research needs that has driventhe establishment of new researchprograms around the world. Theproject has also helped develop aseries of public informationdocuments on EMF issues.

The FDA and the CellularTelecommunications & Internet

Association (CTIA) have a formalCooperative Research AndDevelopment Agreement (CRADA)to do research on wireless phonesafety. The FDA provides thescientific oversight, obtaining inputfrom experts in government,industry, and academicorganizations. CTIA-fundedresearch is conducted throughcontracts with independentinvestigators. The initial researchwill include both laboratory studiesand studies of wireless phone users.The CRADA will also include abroad assessment of additionalresearch needs in the context ofthe latest research developmentsaround the world.

7. How can I find out how muchRadio Frequency energy exposureI can get by using my wirelessphone?

All phones sold in the United Statesmust comply with FederalCommunications Commission(FCC) guidelines that limit RadioFrequency (RF) energy exposures.The FCC established theseguidelines in consultation with the

FDA and the other federal healthand safety agencies. The FCC limitfor RF exposure from wirelessphones is set at a SpecificAbsorption Rate (SAR) of 1.6 wattsper kilogram (1.6 W/kg). The FCClimit is consistent with the safetystandards developed by theInstitute of Electrical and ElectronicEngineering (IEEE) and the NationalCouncil on Radiation Protectionand Measurement. The exposurelimit takes into consideration thebody’s ability to remove heat fromthe tissues that absorb energy fromthe wireless phone and is set wellbelow levels known to have effects.Manufacturers of wireless phonesmust report the RF exposure levelfor each model of phone to theFCC. The FCC website(http://www.fcc.gov/oet/rfsafety)gives directions for locating theFCC identification number on yourphone so you can find your phone’sRF exposure level in the onlinelisting.

8. What has the FDA done tomeasure the Radio Frequencyenergy coming from wirelessphones?

The Institute of Electrical andElectronic Engineers (IEEE) isdeveloping a technical standard formeasuring the Radio Frequency(RF) energy exposure from wirelessphones and other wireless handsetswith the participation andleadership of FDA scientists andengineers. The standard,“Recommended Practice forDetermining the Spatial-PeakSpecific Absorption Rate (SAR) inthe Human Body Due to WirelessCommunications Devices:Experimental Techniques”, sets forththe first consistent testmethodology for measuring therate at which RF is deposited in theheads of wireless phone users. Thetest method uses a tissue-simulating model of the humanhead. Standardized SAR testmethodology is expected to greatlyimprove the consistency ofmeasurements made at differentlaboratories on the same phone.SAR is the measurement of theamount of energy absorbed in

tissue, either by the whole body ora small part of the body. It ismeasured in watts/kg (ormilliwatts/g) of matter. Thismeasurement is used to determinewhether a wireless phone complieswith safety guidelines.

9. What steps can I take toreduce my exposure to RadioFrequency energy from mywireless phone?

If there is a risk from theseproducts — and at this point wedo not know that there is — it isprobably very small. But if you areconcerned about avoiding evenpotential risks, you can take a fewsimple steps to minimize yourexposure to Radio Frequency (RF)energy. Since time is a key factor inhow much exposure a personreceives, reducing the amount oftime spent using a wireless phonewill reduce RF exposure. If you mustconduct extended conversations bywireless phone every day, you couldplace more distance between yourbody and the source of the RF,since the exposure level drops offdramatically with distance. For

example, you could use a headsetand carry the wireless phone awayfrom your body or use a wirelessphone connected to a remoteantenna. Again, the scientific datadoes not demonstrate that wirelessphones are harmful. But if you areconcerned about the RF exposurefrom these products, you can usemeasures like those describedabove to reduce your RF exposurefrom wireless phone use.

10. What about children usingwireless phones?

The scientific evidence does notshow a danger to users of wirelessphones, including children andteenagers. If you want to take stepsto lower exposure to RadioFrequency (RF) energy, themeasures described above wouldapply to children and teenagersusing wireless phones. Reducing thetime of wireless phone use andincreasing the distance between theuser and the RF source will reduceRF exposure.

Some groups sponsored by othernational governments have advisedthat children be discouraged from

using wireless phones at all. Forexample, the government in theUnited Kingdom distributed leafletscontaining such a recommendationin December 2000. They notedthat no evidence exists that using awireless phone causes brain tumorsor other ill effects. Theirrecommendation to limit wirelessphone use by children was strictlyprecautionary; it was not based onscientific evidence that any healthhazard exists.

11. What about wireless phoneinterference with medicalequipment?

Radio Frequency (RF) energy fromwireless phones can interact withsome electronic devices. For thisreason, the FDA helped develop adetailed test method to measureElectro Magnetic Interference (EMI)of implanted cardiac pacemakersand defibrillators from wirelesstelephones. This test method isnow part of a standard sponsoredby the Association for theAdvancement of MedicalInstrumentation (AAMI). The finaldraft, a joint effort by the FDA,medical device manufacturers, and

many other groups, was completedin late 2000. This standard willallow manufacturers to ensure thatcardiac pacemakers anddefibrillators are safe from wirelessphone EMI.

The FDA has tested hearing aids forinterference from handheld wirelessphones and helped develop avoluntary standard sponsored bythe Institute of Electrical andElectronic Engineers (IEEE). Thisstandard specifies test methodsand performance requirements forhearing aids and wireless phones sothat no interference occurs when aperson uses a “compatible” phoneand a “compatible” hearing aid atthe same time. This standard wasapproved by the IEEE in 2000.

The FDA continues to monitor theuse of wireless phones for possibleinteractions with other medicaldevices. Should harmfulinterference be found to occur, theFDA will conduct testing to assessthe interference and work toresolve the problem.

When operating a car, driving isyour first responsibility. When usingyour wireless phone behind thewheel of a car, practice goodcommon sense and remember thefollowing tips:

3. Make sure you place yourwireless phone within easy reachand where you can reach itwithout removing your eyes fromthe road. If you get an incomingcall at an inconvenient time, ifpossible, let your voicemailanswer it for you.

4. Suspend conversations duringhazardous driving conditions orsituations. Let the person youare speaking with know you aredriving; if necessary, suspend thecall in heavy traffic or hazardousweather conditions. Rain, sleet,snow, and ice can be hazardous,

but so is heavy traffic. As adriver, your first responsibility isto pay attention to the road.

5. Don’t take notes or look upphone numbers while driving. Ifyou are reading an address bookor business card, or writing a“to-do” list while driving a car,you are not watching where youare going. It is common sense.Do not get caught in adangerous situation because youare reading or writing and notpaying attention to the road ornearby vehicles.

6. Dial sensibly and assess thetraffic; if possible, place callswhen you are not moving orbefore pulling into traffic. Try toplan your calls before you beginyour trip or attempt to coincideyour calls with times you may bestopped at a stop sign, red light,or otherwise stationary. But ifyou need to dial while driving,follow this simple tip -- dial onlya few numbers, check the roadand your mirrors, then continue.

7. Do not engage in stressful oremotional conversations that maybe distracting. Stressful or

emotional conversations anddriving do not mix; they aredistracting and even dangerouswhen you are behind the wheelof a car. Make people you aretalking with aware you are drivingand if necessary, suspendconversations which have thepotential to divert your attentionfrom the road.

8. Use your wireless phone to callfor help. Your wireless phone isone of the greatest tools youcan own to protect yourself andyour family in dangeroussituations -- with your phone atyour side, help is only threenumbers away. Dial 911 or otherlocal emergency number in thecase of fire, traffic accident, roadhazard, or medical emergency.Remember, it’s a free call on yourwireless phone!

9. Use your wireless phone to helpothers in emergencies. Yourwireless phone provides you aperfect opportunity to be a“Good Samaritan” in yourcommunity. If you see an autoaccident, crime in progress orother serious emergency where

lives are in danger, call 911 orother local emergency number,as you would want others to dofor you.

10. Call roadside assistance or aspecial wireless non-emergencyassistance number whennecessary. Certain situationsyou encounter while drivingmay require attention, but arenot urgent enough to merit acall for emergency services. Butyou can still use your wirelessphone to lend a hand. If yousee a broken-down vehicleposing no serious hazard, abroken traffic signal, a minortraffic accident where no oneappears injured or a vehicle youknow to be stolen, call roadsideassistance or other special non-emergency wireless number.

The above tips are meant asgeneral guidelines. Before decidingto use your mobile device whileoperating a vehicle, it isrecommended that you consultyour applicable jurisdiction’s locallaws or other regulations regardingsuch use. Such laws or otherregulations may prohibit or

(5) Products which have had theserial number removed or madeillegible.

(6) This limited warranty is in lieuof all other warranties, expressor implied either in fact or byoperations of law, statutory orotherwise, including, but notlimited to any implied warrantyof marketability or fitness for aparticular use.

(7) Damage resulting from use ofnon LG approved accessories.

(8) All plastic surfaces and all otherexternally exposed parts thatare scratched or damaged dueto normal customer use.

(9) Products operated outsidepublished maximum ratings.

(10) Products used or obtained ina rental program.

(11) Consumables (such as fuses).

3. WHAT LG WILL DO:

LG will, at its sole option, eitherrepair, replace or refund thepurchase price of any unit thatdoes not conform to this limitedwarranty. LG may choose at itsoption to use functionallyequivalent re-conditioned,refurbished or new units or parts orany units. In addition, LG will notre-install or back-up any data,applications or software that youhave added to your phone. It istherefore recommended that youback-up any such data orinformation prior to sending theunit to LG to avoid the permanentloss of such information.

The LG Cosmos™ 3 is an all digitalphone that operates on both CodeDivision Multiple Access (CDMA)frequencies: Cellular services at800 MHz and PersonalCommunication Services (PCS) at1.9 GHz.

CDMA technology uses a featurecalled DSSS (Direct SequenceSpread Spectrum) that enables thephone to keep communication frombeing crossed and to use onefrequency channel by multiple usersin the same specific area.
