News from Kindergarten Room 22Please continue to send in the vocabulary builders this

week. Our tree is almost filled with the ornaments. Wehave learned so many new vocabulary words. Some of thewords we have learned areobserve, flee, & browned.

Please continue practicing the LNF and NWF sheet thatwas sent home last week. Page 1 is Letter Naming Fluency.(L N F) See how many letters your child can name quicklyin 1 minute. The more we practice the more success wehave. Page 2 is Nonsense Word Fluency. (N W F) I alsocall these word chunks. The child is to look through andsay a sound for each letter. Most of these letters representsounds that we have studied in the Harcourt Series. Forexample: The nonsense word or word chunk mod doesntmake sense but these little word chunks are found in

longer words like modern or moderation. Now that we have entered boot season, feel free to send

and extra pair of tennis shoes that can stay in your childsmailbox. This way we dont forget the proper shoes ongym day nor will we have to have wear boots into theclassroom if we happen to forget! Thanks!

Have you heard about our Elf on the Shelf? Weve hadfun finding him each day we come into the classroom. Hehelps us remember to practice kindness and respect as heflies to the North Pole every night and reports our behavior

to Santa. This weeks homework will focus on the letter Ffand the

sound it makes as in fish or fox.We will also be focusing on the five senses this week. If

your child would like to bring one of their favoriteChristmas foods or decorations, please make sure theyknow which one of the five senses their item represents. An example might be a candy cane for its minty smell andtaste or its stickiness for touch, its crinkly wrapper forsense of hearing and its red and white stripes for the

sense of sight! Have fun with this at home too as theChristmas season is filled with many wondrous sights andsounds!

I have a favor to ask: if your child has a flash light thathe/she can bring in on Wednesday I would appreciate it.Id like to do an activity with Rudolphs nose and we needflashlights. The flashlight will only be needed for the dayso it will come home with your child on Wednesday.
