FROM THE DESK OF THE ADMINISTRATOR, CAROLYN MARTIN:
Have you thought about all the labor it takes to make a campus like ours operate? I give thanks this Labor Day weekend for staff who will be working this holiday weekend providing services for our wonderful residents. Take a moment if you have the opportunity to give thanks for all who labor here.
If you are looking for a nice outing come out on Sept. 1- Saturday or Sept. 2-Sunday to Art on the Bay, 10-5 pm. The resident association will be selling hand painted large mirrors and potted plants. The Art show this year features 65 Artists, food vendors including Cuban Cuisine, and entertainment. Look for the Village Tent and enjoy browsing the Artist offerings along the shores of Anchor Bay in the Walter Burke Park, downtown New Baltimore.
I am looking forward to celebrating 40 years of VEH- 1970’s style on, Sept. 22nd during our annual resident/staff/family picnic. Invite your kids, grandkids, special friends for a fun day feasting on picnic food, pie eating contest, blow up house and new this year blow up obstacle course. Of course the petting zoo, ice cream, and face painting will be back again for every-one to enjoy. Pray for good weather. Can you dig it?
Save the date for the Big Reveal, Oct. 22nd. Follow the yellow brick road and get a tour of the new construction, private nursing rooms, new rehab gym and the multi-sensory room while enjoying treats from our new restaurant. Take photos with The Wizard of Oz Characters and enter drawings to win prizes celebrating the end of Construction 2018!!!
We now have Library books in the Lobby, Capman hall, and a few in the hallway by the Chapel. Large print books are available in the main lobby bookshelf. We are receiving fresh new books monthly from Chesterfield Library. If you are interested in helping organize our books let the communication committee know. No experience required. Two new laptops will be installed after Labor Day in the Kirk Dining room for residents to use. Free Wi-fi for your convenience. Not sure how to use the computer equipment? Check with Betsy and she will set up class instructions.
Want a say in the future construction on the campus? We are gearing up for Construction, 2019. Discussion will revolve around mid-rise building ideas, new apartment cottage homes, and the health care center. We value your input. Join us on September 18 in the morning for a focus group led by Promatura research group. If you would like to participate call Peggy at 716-7397 or Nancy at 716-7813.
Resident association meetings start back on September 11, hope to see you there.

Wow, where did the summer go? Hopefully, you were able to participate in some of the great activities, trips and entertainment offered as a perk to living at The Village of East Harbor. This coming fall promises to be even more exciting with the picnic , the big reveal, the craft show and Art on the Bay.
Remember, many of these are open to the public and you may invite your friends and family. As we do every year, The Village of East Harbor will have a table at Art on the Bay, which is scheduled as always on Labor Day weekend. Please try to stop by and say hello as you stroll through the artists’ and vendor booths, and as you are out in the community wear your Village of East Harbor gear proudly! We have tee shirts for sale regularly, and styles change with each event/season, supplies limited. If this generates interest in the community, please hand them a card to contact Sales and Leasing for more information. These cards are available from Peggy and Nancy, and will earn you a cash referral bonus when we have a new move-in because of you!

SEPTEMBER A TIME OF GIVING AND SHARING
Luke 6:38
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
SEEKING “Choir” Members. I am in the process of arranging a gathering of several local churches for a time of praise and worship here at The Village. I would like to gather a group of residents and staff to sing 2 or 3 songs for our portion of this exciting event! No experience neces-sary, just a desire to join with your community in a time of unity, worship and refreshments. Date to be determined, however I need to know who may be interested in forming a ‘choir’ to sing a couple of songs.
