» HOT SPOT... A suped-up soup cup? Why not? These oversized soup mugs became one-of-a-kind with the addition of some artfully applied chalkboard paints…and they’re washable too. Note: Do not drink from your embellished mugs. The mugs can function as bowls only. Food should never come in direct contact with the chalkboard paint.

DROP IN THE BUCKET... Organization is a snap when it comes to our colorful chalkboard paints. These sweet little buckets (available in the Card and Party Department) were painted blue before we added coordinating chalkboard paint. When the paint cured, we chalked on a trio of labels.

CAN DO... We’re not throwing this idea away! The bare wood trashcan (available in the Craft Department) got a coat of clear primer and lots of brilliant blue chalkboard paint. Then, we embellished it with ordinary chalk.

CHIC SHINE... You’ve gotta love a polka-dot lamp—especially when it’s painted with chalkboard paint! A formerly boring thrift store find, this accent piece was totally transformed with primer, black chalkboard paint and circles of pretty pink and blue chalkboard paint. Write away or leave it blank (as we did) for a fabulously fresh design.

STACK UP... Boring storage stay away! For this look, cover a trio of paper maché hat boxes in eye-popping pink and blue. And when the paint has cured, write on a simple label. Since it’s chalk, you can change the label when you change the contents!

FULL PLATE... Round out your chic chalkboard style with a pair of pretty little plates. These ceramic ribbon plates (available in the Craft Department) were so easy to embellish! When the pieces have cured, you can chalk in the labels of your choice.
