“YOU CAN BE MAGNIFIED”Images formed in Convex Lens
Objectives:1. Measure the focal length and linear magnification of a
convex lens.2. Locate the image formed by convex lens.3. Describe the image formed by convex lens.
*Terms to be remembered:1. Focal Length – is the distance from the surface of a
lens to the focus. It is also known a the distance from the lens at which light rays are concentrated at a single point/dot.
2. Linear magnification – is the visual measure of the object’s image size when viewed using the lens.
3. Virtual image – object’s image is located behind the lens.
4. Real image – object’s image is located in front of the lens.
How light behaves…
REFLECTION REFRACTION
REFRACTION OF LIGHT…*It is described as…- ability of light rays to enter/pass a certain medium like glass.
*Light…- bends to a certain direction.
*Happens only in… - it strikes a clear/transparent medium.
BEST EXAMPLE OF MEDIUM WHERE LIGHT CAN PASS THROUGH ARE GLASSES.
These includes… LENSES
CONVEX
CONCAVE
LENSES ARE USED IN OPTICAL INSTRUMENTS
DID YOU HAVE ANY PAST PERSONAL EXPERIENCES ON USING LENSES SPECIFICALLY

DISCUSSIONS OF RESULTS/OBSERVATIONS
How would you describe the image formed if a distant object is used?

• Based on the data obtained, associate the measurement of distances to:
(f = lens focus, p = object’s distance, and q = eye distance)
