Ergonomic and Rugged DesignAt only 3.2 kg, the radio is one of the lightest wideband radios in its class. The radio is enclosed in a T6-Aluminium casing which is epoxy powder-coated. It complies with MIL-STD-810G specifi cations, and the interface and controls are user-friendly and intuitive. Robust and Reliable Communication (Combat Net)The Leopard radio is based on a true digital software defi ned platform, covering a seamless spectrum from 1.6 MHz to 170 / 512* MHz, outperforming conventional systems. Numerous waveforms that conform to NATO and U.S. military standards are supported by the standard internal and optional advanced data modem allowing interoperability with other systems. The optional data modem caters for automatic repeat requests (ARQ) allowing error-free transmission for Tactical Combat Network Applications.

Data Transfer Rate Encrypted data transfer of up to 2400 bps is attained by the standard internal modem and higher data rates are possible by adding an optional internal modem. Modems enable secure military tactical messaging, chat and situational awareness. With the optional modems the features and data capability of the radio can be further enriched. Depending on the waveform selected, data rates of up to 19,200 bps on HF and up to 96000 bps on VHF/UHF can be obtained. Data can be fi le transfer or streaming. Email is supported with the STANAG 5056 standard incorporating an external PC application on either 2G or 3G ALE.

Extended Battery LifeThe advanced power and battery management system incorporated into the radio off ers a low stand-by power consumption of 4 W. Superior low voltage components, latest power control techniques and battery composition can provide an operation time of up to 70 hours. Li-Ion battery capacities available are13 Ah & 26 Ah @ nominal 12V.

Transceiver High performance HF, VHF and UHF fi lters ensure harmonic suppression and adjacent channel rejection, off ering superior selectivity. The transceiver utilises state of the art components to ensure communications in both rural and urban environments.

Antenna TuningThe radio comes standard with a built-in antenna tuner that automatically matches the antenna to the operating. Initial tuning takes seconds and only a fraction of a second when tuned from a stored profi le. The tuner is of matching the antenna in the HF band and extending into the VHF Band, from 1.6 up to 60 MHz.

ECCMThe option of end-to-end encryption is integrated to enable high grade security of data and voice transmissions.Optional Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS) are available to users. Advanced ECCM features such as FFH (fast frequency hopping) up to 600 hops per second with OTP (one-time-pad) and up to 200 hops per second with AES hopping algorithm is available. Data encryption with AES128 and AES256 are options

Integrated Satellite Positioning ReceiverThe integrated GPS / GLONASS receiver and antenna provides time, position and heading information which can be viewed on screen in the fi eld. User selectable standards are Lat/Long, MGRS or UTM which can be sent via secure encrypted messaging for C4I purposes.

The Leopard 1 is a compact, rugged and lightweight wideband military radio which off ers uncompromised communication for tactical missions in the HF, VHF and UHF bands. A built-in tuner, standard modem and GPS receiver are integrated into the radio allowing fl exible operation. Advanced features such as Automatic Link Establishment (ALE), Frequency Hopping and One-Time-Pad (OTP), AES encryption and Digital Voice provides fl exible, secure and reliable communication. The radio is confi gurable for Manpack, Mobile, Base Station and Repeater applications and high power amplifi cation is achieved with the Afracal2. The Leopard is fully compatible with the Cheetah3 VHF/UHF Manpack and interoperable with all other radios conforming to standards.

Dual RF Power AmplifierThe Dual Power Amplifier incorporates two separate power amplifiers with 2 inputs. Both the PA units are controlled by a separate radio interface. The Dual amplifier unit has automatic input RF switch to cross switch radio inputs and an automatic three-port antenna switch to select appropriate antennas.Improved performance can be achieved for mobile or base station operations by implementing band-specific high gain antennas. The PA units also pass through automatic antenna tuning commands to control an external ATU. One or two Leopard1 Radios can be connected for versatility. NOTE: A Cheetah3 Radio can be connected as Radio 2 for VHF/UHF excitation with similar performance. The power amplifier provides 125 W from 1.6 - 30 MHz and 100W from 30 – 88MHz, 50 W from 110 - 512 MHz.

Rack ConfigurationsVarious configurations can be implemented for mobile, base station, in-band and cross-band repeater applications pairing with another Leopard1 or Cheetah3 and Afracal2. Specially designed dampers can be custom designed and made for any weight and application.

Backpack OptionsVarious custom backpack options can be provided. A backpack may include provision the radio and optional accessories such as flexible solar charger, tablet/terminal, spare batteries, various antennas, water bottle and spare magazine pouches. Backpacks manufactured to customer specifications and desired colors.

High Capacity BatteryThe high capacity 12V 26 Ah Li-Ion batteries can provide operation time with advanced features on of up to 36 hours with Standby time up to 70 hrs.

Leopard 1 SPECIALISED ACCESSORIES

Advanced Optional ModemThe integrated advanced modem provides the radio with additional functions such as Encryption, Secure Digital Voice, 2G and or 3G ALE, extended high speed data transfer and wave-form capability. E-mailing options are also supported.

Fill Gun: (Scorpion)The Scorpion Fill Gun is designed for field programming. Once pro-grammed, teams can be dispatched with secure fill guns to upload new radio channels and secure keys into installed radios.

Programming and SoftwareApplication software suite is available to control and program the radio channels and features via RS232 or Ethernet Encrypted tactical military data transfer such as messaging, file transfer, (text, image, sound, video), GPS/GLONASS mapping, data encryption, ECCM, can be set up and managed with Windows, 7/8/10 on any Tablet, Laptop or PC. , (Encryption can be AES, Twofish, Serpent)
