The Leon Foundation is a group of intellectual and business people that have passion for knowledge and education. They are dedicated to support children education in the countries of South America giving hope to those less fortunate children to have access to technology. Their humanity reflects that passion. In Memory of RAUL. A LEON

The Leon Foundation was established to honor the memory of RAUL A. LEON a loved one who believed strongly in giving back to the community and who had strong devotion toward serving others. Raúl A. León was a person who every

moment of every day was dedicated to help people. The Leon Foundation believes in his commitment and wants to reach out to others following Mr. Leon’s example.

Raúl A. León was a journalist with over 40 years of experience in his profession. He was graduated of the “Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Santa Maria” Arequipa, Perú in 1968 with a Degree in Journalism and Social Communication Science. He also held the Title of Professional Journalist from the “Escuela Superior of Periodismo Jaime Bauzate y Meza” of Lima, Perú. 1968. He was a member of the “College of Journalists of Perú” and of the “National Association of Hispanic Journalists” with Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Mr. León worked as an assistant at the Consulate of the United States in Arequipa, Perú as well as at various newspapers and magazines of his Home country.

Before he migrated to the United States, he was a Communications Supervisor at “Southern Peru Copper Corporation” which works the cuprous beds in Toquepala and Cuajone, in Southern Peru, as well as Public Works Councilman for the district of San Luis in Lima, Perú from

1979 to 1981. In the United States he has worked as the Official Translator and also a Class Master at the “Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis” whose World headquarters are located in San Jose, CA from 1984 to 1989. He worked for most of the publications written in Spanish in that Metropolitan area such as La Oferta Review Newspaper, San Jose, CA as Communications Director from 1987 to 1989. He was a representative of “El Mensajero” newspaper in San Francisco, CA from 1988 to 1989.

In 1990 Mr. León founded LA VOZ LATINA Newspaper in San Jose, CA in order to present and effective vehicle for close and truthful communication with the large Hispanic community of the Silicon Valley. His objective was to use his mind and his talents to give the voice of the Hispanics effective widespread consideration in the Metropolitan area. The objectives were achieved thanks to his tireless and unflagging action. What in May, 1990, was a “new born” means of expression has become “of age’ having obtained a

much coveted “niche” among the competitive bilingual publications in the United States.

Mr. León received the “Excelencia” recognition for 40 years as journalist from “The Agrupación de Criticos y Periodistas de Teatro de Mexico” – ACPT 2001. The Hispanic Press Foundation announced five scholarships for Hispanic students at their annual convention in Las Vegas on March, 2003. Each scholarship was awarded in memory of a Hispanic publisher for his contribution to Hispanic publications in the United States. One of the 2003 National Hispanic Press Foundation Scholarship Recipient and the Memorialized Publisher was: Luisa Fernanda Cruz, a student at the University of Nevada, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in memory of Raúl A. León of La Voz Latina newspaper. Also The National Hispanic Press Foundation (NHPF) has honored Mr. León, publisher of La Voz Latina newspaper, with its Educational Leadership Award. The award recognized Mr. León’s work to assist Latinos in securing a better education in the media field.

Mr. Raúl A. León is survived by his wife Obdulia, his six daughters Joyce, Julia, Annette, Jacqueline, Elizabeth and Maria, one granddaughter Shannaleah and two grandsons Raul and Giancarlo.

LEON FOUNDATION DONATED 3 COMPUTERS TO LA CENA DEL SENOR CHURCH IN THE COMMUNITY OF SANTA ANITA EN LIMA-PERU ON DECEMBER 24, 2010 TO IMPROVE CHILDREN’S EDUCATION IN THE AREA OF CATECHESIS AND EVANGELIZATION. THIS WILL ALLOW 320 CHILDREN TO IMPROVE THEIR COMPUTER SKILLS AND ALSO THE COMMUNITY WITH COMPUTER COURSES FOR THEM.
