March 10 - Rite of Election 3:00 PM At the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament the Bishop declares the Church’s approval of the catechumens’ advancement in the process. After this rite, the catechumens are called the Elect. SUNDAYS DURING LENT Dismissal of the Elect 11:00 AM Mass On the third, fourth, and fifth Sundays of Lent, special rites, called the Scrutinies, are celebrated. In these rites the Gospels focus on the journey from sin and death to everlasting life, and the community prays that the Elect be enlightened and purified. April 20 - HOLY SATURDAY RCIA Preparation Rites 10:00 AM In the church Easter Vigil Mass 8:15 PM The elect receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and/or Eucharist and become fully Initiated members of the Catholic Church. Reception following in Giovanni Hall honoring our newly initiated members. As all of us answer the Lenten call to a renewal of heart and a recommitment to our baptismal promises, please consider joining us for these special celebrations. Please hold our Catechumens and Candidates in prayer as they enter into this time of spiritual purification and enlightenment. This period is a time of reflection and meditation for those preparing for the initiation sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. It spans the season of Lent and culminates at the Easter Vigil.
