Employers want the right person for their job

Important advice for students in Year 8• All students should aim to complete the Level 2 threshold and move
on to Level 3 whilst they are a student at Newport High School. To complete the Level 2 threshold which is equivalent to 5 GCSE passes at A*-C grades or 5 vocational passes, you need to ask your TfL, the KS3 levels you are predicted to achieve at the end of this year:
• If this is Level 6+ in English, Maths and Science then: – Select any subjects of your choice from pathways A or B&C
• If this is Level 5+ in English, Maths and Science then: – Look carefully at the information about each of the options
available in Pathway A and Pathways B&C. Some GCSE subjects may not be available to you until next year
• If this is Level 4+ in English, Maths and Science then: – A choice from Pathway A will be most likely to ensure you achieve
the Level 2 threshold by the end of Year 11
