Page 6: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

HAVE YOU USED THESE GADGETS?

These forms of technology are popular and used all over the

world!

Page 7: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

ANDY WARHOL WAS INSPIRED BY THE PEOPLE THAT WERE POPULAR WHEN HE WAS ALIVE. LIKE THESE TWO:

Marilyn Monroe Elvis Presley

Page 8: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

HE WAS MOST INSPIRED BY IMAGES THAT WERE FREE TO THE PUBLIC.

Meaning the images are mass-produced: photos found in a magazine or book that anyone can look at, taken by a professional photographer.

Page 9: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A PHOTO TAKEN BY A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER THAT WAS MASSED-PRODUCED.

This is Marilyn Monroe Again.

Page 10: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

HERE IS WARHOL’S SILK SCREEN PRINTS OF THIS SAME IMAGE:

Page 11: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

SILK SCREEN PRINT

• Warhol creates an image using the silk screen technique.

• A silkscreen print is very much like a photographic print

• Use INK to create the image- NOT PAINT

NOW THAT WE KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT THE MEDIA WARHOL USES…

Page 13: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

…WE CAN ANALYZE HIS WORK!

Look at this work of art: Take a minute to look at the image, then go to the next slide

Page 14: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.

Warhol uses COLOR in his work, but not in a traditional way. He does not relate the color to an emotion. The color is just color. BUT he does choose a COLOR SCHEME.

Warhol uses SHAPES to create the subjects in the composition. What SHAPES can you see?

Warhol uses LINES to show movement in the piece. The grass looks like it is moving in the wind.

Page 15: LEARNERS/ TARGET AUDIENCE 5 th Grade class Middle Class suburban area.
